Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.& @$ z' R( h& _3 x

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.2 [+ y& G/ [# e
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.7 Z, M7 N* }6 G. E
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.

and traffic conditions.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
# G! N* n3 H, k• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.- D: a9 e& w. G2 f* q/ e& a
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.

• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill $ |5 q7 D* Z) Y
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).4 w& p F8 x% c* `: l M, O4 g. E2 g
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program./ }! T7 V; Y4 s L, j: }7 o. |/ L
• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week " }" e: e% L2 ^$ D
1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly' b8 r# d, N8 ~$ I+ _2 G
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
