- o, C( H# I5 J8 kEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

FUNCTIONS:( d9 i* E* R9 g3 s
• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
& q7 r/ D) k. V `/ }+ j& s• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.; U; L+ X" Y4 |% V% m4 z
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information." g; v, k) n1 y3 a0 N
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather 2 J7 k; }3 @- @
and traffic conditions.

• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).1 S( D7 ]& h5 O3 l
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.. Z, v% g X) X. {- P! ~7 w5 ?
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
% U' g" K2 l- C2 A• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
0 b* W. R# n3 [+ Bshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. ( Y, ]" N" q2 T
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
5 J s0 p M; \, m" b- Y/ Q/ Gvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly" e$ Z( a2 v% l( z9 K0 m

Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly/ z. `7 w. z/ L: V% R5 s+ E
