Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.5 g5 s5 l) @5 X$ x2 c; U v3 x

FUNCTIONS:
6 l& q3 J7 O1 R1 K. j' f4 G• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.

• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.- @# X' y7 D8 f! o
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).9 s! ^1 {0 V0 g7 D0 A
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
# k+ B U& n5 i! Y$ B7 ~9 {- q2 Z6 C0 A• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.$ ^: i! Y7 l, o) }
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
4 i* M$ q" C! e& Z; C* t2 Gshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
% T8 f( p! H3 Z$ o% w; X• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
3 R% g! o8 P/ l7 m% P% \2 Avideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).9 N' x8 W/ d$ @9 ^, }. v* g' n
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

HOURS OF WORK:
