Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis./ s5 N+ z6 \$ l. c& r- f( P) x

0 |, k1 m7 a" y% s# B• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.! I6 I4 ?0 Z" T
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
- b( m' N4 y! J0 G* S• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
6 p5 L6 O) V5 ~+ ?) L1 j2 L• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather $ B, o8 Y' s& Z" `8 k: b! K" Q
and traffic conditions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
0 o# J! G5 L3 u S• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
" O) T+ \( Z: @" f6 g+ [ T• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
0 X# R& B' i% a5 T9 ~% u. x; Ato be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger

/ |1 y& O! t. j9 x• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).. b8 A3 g: w7 p7 @! p
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
3 N" ?/ M' j# t8 {• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.: K3 g6 J. k- O" y% e
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
: z& F! b- @1 b Sshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
& s" Q. L) \! T+ j/ Q2 I- N• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill & u g7 r/ t" p
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training)., [ x* u( E4 g, Z0 `
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.3 M2 z6 J% y% q
• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

% k: O2 |( J5 tVarious hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly# X: B5 C: [2 z$ ^% _
