- }0 ^1 T8 A. o( nEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.8 _( f0 R9 H; _9 k. V$ M; u
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.- M h% u! k. O" d: H! W; i
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
+ @0 v1 y0 J& A" u, B; `• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather ' j1 E+ @6 c9 c& ^0 v3 `
and traffic conditions.

( |/ B3 K8 h8 B& z' m ^% k5 v• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
. P3 o1 f8 i" j7 J' M• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.% M2 r' G4 A5 x- ~9 R% j4 d0 I
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability ! \; j) I" g; i+ ~
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger 8 `, k6 c8 }9 U2 @- z
of the day.
- S4 M p" T' g3 g! `) t• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
- g6 Z3 j9 p( o$ V$ o# {• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.' l4 ^4 l# G5 n* U% O
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training./ a- F, W/ X+ \/ l
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)

• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
% Q. Q8 s" p0 y R) _* {0 n6 h- Dvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004

Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly
