8 B# n( \* P1 i$ ?. NEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

- ~! K( A' D% s( l Z• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
+ _$ Q2 t* k1 J0 K. W2 J1 l J3 O• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
6 ^; |, D) e$ g( m• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.4 F1 ^, n. @- `" X# P# W- v) m B7 T3 j% l
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather / w% X5 a- ^4 B

• Adhere to schedules.
, u9 h: t' z* j/ [0 a- r* p2 B• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations. $ l4 ~1 [; V! G- ?
• Ensure the safety of all passengers.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).% o5 ` {3 U) @ d+ j7 {% p' T6 `
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
; i7 K% W% F) [- u, l3 K• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.3 o; I% s' N& N |
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
" T3 s4 j" D7 ~- E0 eshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. : K$ r, ~0 b* u: V3 X- x9 N7 P/ b
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
; i! `- k- M3 W8 T; wvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

HOURS OF WORK:- H! `' V: ~$ p y' y
Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week
7 e6 j8 p9 B" Z7 \, Y" j" ]4 N* d1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly. l+ r* K- _6 s* L; F
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly3 `1 }0 K# |. d* ~8 X5 N( C: ]5 M

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004

The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
