Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

9 F# H/ \- Q0 a9 ^: w' x3 t+ S• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.

• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.8 p) D) t O7 f" s Z
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Communicate effectively in a variety of situations.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.% T ?% i; |7 X; Y5 F
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability

• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
8 T9 d4 N0 N3 l, `( K7 |• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.4 d) D! }9 N, T. D! \' g
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) ; i' b m) o& U4 Q6 e( v. r) F( D& L
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).0 a' W' g" P0 @6 Q3 s* f% g
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program. c# J( n$ i" D1 O
• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly* l8 @4 n8 z/ Z$ S- `
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly$ c' t# p: E W
5 B4 I! M/ P2 N, a' C5 `SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 $ _" S( C/ W5 V
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly

The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
