The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
4 i0 o9 \) E$ ?$ Y+ @8 \society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more

2 l& w8 l0 f& l) {1 A: MPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
4 H0 U; K% K; r. Q( _and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
2 e* c% `/ c% I' Inon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
# b: ~: j/ H- N. B+ g* qaffairs at all times.

/ K. f5 R( o: E( oPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
& M7 m! r1 ~( b4 _arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
1 M" T5 Z; \" m7 xmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
( C  C& `) r7 x8 y" K1 @1 }to implement the organizational policies.

4 l& L! @' A- o- [- l) mPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
+ A1 ?# l; Q  V" b. w& e9 H; rservices; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
5 v9 y) N! s5 i% z( I+ Uthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
1 L4 x! j. ?1 kthe funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
( S; G% N& C" D, h6 q$ ~0 h- a  uthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
! X" U4 |2 }9 l' R  apayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
2 C- M2 H+ o2 @0 [5 Vthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
6 O' r* r& E' l0 I: K3 Lpartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
4 h0 M1 Q) ?- ~: `$ q$ F1 X' Kwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
- @" k: V% X; U% C& p& ymanaging projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
- I6 y4 R& H9 q) Eprocesses an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
