Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
, _/ Q, p. s7 U% V- i- c! {• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.2 J: w+ {$ Y3 U, j W, [$ d
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.. O& j. ?( [( G" {# c8 y3 v, [
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.7 n: {2 ~& `' `5 L/ [4 N
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works
( C; ]/ Y' H. Q) |. ]• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing. , [; X7 C; _" T7 Z6 E+ i
• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.1 z& \, y9 h8 f* H: i, @
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.
2 S( I* S& N, F; d• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.
% |& A6 |5 o- o& F• Pesticide Applicators license an asset.

Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation( j; M6 J& j/ X. c; ?
• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.
( P, F) f( a" U& p' ^/ e• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).

• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects." d/ _; G( i6 B$ U2 C- f, h% J
• Installation, maintenance and removal of road markings, traffic / detour control devices.

• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.

Job Requirements:+ x: V V" O& O4 G9 p/ J) L
• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.
5 n1 C+ T7 g; Z% R# B5 i• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.

• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.
. [+ {7 t* K+ I; V• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.
: `/ m& K# k, J• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.( e3 G2 k6 U# }; G& r
SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.: h( h' |4 n, v9 k, o: U
