Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
( X7 V2 ] u/ z$ Z9 N( x; w• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.
9 M1 X/ E9 Z6 N/ L• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.1 _# _! S/ q" U; d3 G0 n
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

: V' r/ b2 M7 h0 T, Q• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
0 t4 w' L* V6 M$ B& O) N5 n• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
) ^/ ]% J+ g8 f% Z• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.2 D4 M) N: ?5 T
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.+ ]) O3 l6 R% o: L) l& l7 c
• Pesticide Applicators license an asset.- I0 |$ y% Z5 n$ H

Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation
* [5 Y! t# x2 D• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving./ ~2 t1 [5 K) R; L3 O
• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).

• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.
( y& N0 N# @7 \/ `0 c• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.

Job Requirements:, F7 A7 r, ~9 t' [
• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.
% ?# M. R4 f7 |' [ j( a• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.) ^6 s) E& R: n- R6 s/ C, _; f' L
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.6 i5 J& D7 {, w: }- p! j
• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.6 C- {* x, q# \3 s2 @: y# t) Q
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment./ j& ~' H4 a1 D8 g( |9 b( k
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.! V3 r) [% c1 J
• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.+ t7 }/ I/ Q, I) n1 o
HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
# d, Y) a: V: ASALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
