Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
' D! X' N7 h3 j$ F& @8 VEmployment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
schedule should be reasonably flexible.

Job description
Statistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
0 m% y3 I$ d# Y/ T" Yweekend hours.
* l- b0 u/ W" s+ YYou will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
% Y( g+ u- {) S. o& ^5 E/ g1 W* \lab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
5 V- l" ~& J. [7 h* jcentre.
" p+ y  v9 p- P, D) e0 h) c3 sThese responsibilities include:
-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
2 k4 B4 P+ f  {$ N5 `-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
: [8 v# F5 v, c  H2 e' ffacilities’ maintenance, etc.
-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
clients’ files etc.
Statement of Qualifications
Education:
2 U# B4 A9 V2 }/ c5 J+ R-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
/ x& K  r+ M% n# ?- w; Veducation, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
and Excel.
-Experience using and updating an information database.

Assets:
5 l# K! K0 ]# q) A& A: _-Experience in using MS Access.
' F/ z: m1 l' d% l4 S5 I-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
2 c- \0 @$ T( \0 WAbilities:
-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
) b# z0 ^, J8 R9 MPersonal suitability: Dependable, detail orientated, discrete, thorough, effective interpersonal
relations.
