The Research Data Centres (RDC) Program is part of an initiative from Statistics Canada, the

Position: Part-time Assistant

Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
$ |! M! L, L9 O! k2 M+ H; p0 y- e, UHourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
0 f7 ^. b; }$ x" O9 k# ]8 r3 mEmployment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s

Statistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
5 O# b- l  {; R" P! K6 o) u5 |1 o# ]weekend hours.
You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
; c! j+ i) G% Mlab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
centre.
These responsibilities include:
-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
; h# E) y* e, \0 N- |-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
3 k, C" J2 U1 s# F9 O. b-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
0 t  v' p( }& R  {3 Afacilities’ maintenance, etc.
. C' `' `, e# J- \$ x6 E4 I+ {3 H& m- m-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
clients’ files etc.
Statement of Qualifications
Education:
-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
education, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
1 e# @; [/ t% N1 ^of education, training and /or experience.
. K$ V3 {+ C/ l- `6 zKnowledge/Technical competencies:
-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
and Excel.
-Experience using and updating an information database.

( J4 o- R. `: Z7 A  |2 {' H1 lAssets:
, Y1 t5 c- {+ n3 i5 c' o-Experience in using MS Access.
  e0 z3 W/ r: d-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
7 [+ W1 w& Z" j" l, UAbilities:
3 n1 x: ~- F! c0 p5 u  ^6 Z-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
