1955: Westmount Shoppers' Park opens with 40 stores, 3,000 parking spaces at a cost of $5 million. Woodward's anchors Edmonton's first shopping centre.( j7 B) B; d9 v! f/ `2 f

1984: Triple Five Corporation, developer of West Edmonton Mall, buys property from Woodward's and spends $25 million on renovations.

4 m- ~' n) ^! K# ?2000: New owner Dundee Developments spends $30 million on facelift. Safeway moves to the mall's south end, and Zellers enlarges its store. Renovation separates the anchors in an effort to draw traffic past a new ice rink and food court. Slogan "New Cool" used to attract shoppers.

2003: Sandalwood Management buys mall and starts adding stand-alone stores on "pad locations."
