Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me: ( }) @! i: G$ n5 D, ?- G1 }
"I am going to send it back". 0 S; K( b; D% ]7 I
I did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:
1 f, |0 Z9 f) D$ U* p% Y+ N "I am sorry, what are you sending back?"
5 ?9 k2 F5 J; l& H; G( E2 J4 OHe said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage."
: P: i( O8 ~) X4 c1 H"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?"
3 j4 v# Q2 O, @, Y- T5 x"Yes, I did."6 T( y, N3 S2 w4 j) H0 b( H) l
Finally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post.
& r5 c- j+ ^8 ZHe took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet. ; _4 I7 D' ~& @) n7 K
"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"
# _4 }. g* ^1 V0 ?' c3 x, J5 _7 s"No, I am not. I do not do those things."% I4 f( A: z& M! {+ M
He took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside.
, o- h C/ z: o% ?$ H1 b% P. XI gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:

"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:

My heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it.
; M, ?4 G. `# }He did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity.
