A police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street.
: e, A$ X5 b) K2 a& }, B2 NPolice say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight.; L& R7 Y' _& y y
"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe.", |! g; P( u$ n; J5 n" r
Beattie explains that with overweight vehicles, braking can be a problem.6 E# x! y$ M& z0 E+ p
"The last thing I'm sure you, and any of us want, is to be in front of a vehicle that is basically 17 tonnes over what it's allowed to be on the road when you stop at a red light."& q G1 g, {* e7 E" n4 R

The company is due in court on Thursday, December 3.
