　　North country scene:

　　A hundred leagues locked in ice,

) k* a* M1 z! A$ ]　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

+ P5 W" H; \  U! b* A　　Both sides of the Great Wall

　　One single white immensity.

2 P  K) N' d0 H  ~2 w3 L; S2 P　　The Yellow River"s swift current
- Y4 J! x, Z0 w+ ~
　　Is stilled from end to end.
" \! g  v3 R& a( F9 x
- a( y- W* s/ ]- h# J3 f0 a　　The mountains dance like silver snakes
( _) G& d, L* B! W: U
2 m! F( b, A( M, {, ~  |3 {, X, c　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

　　Vying with heaven in stature.

/ u% f" {: \2 D% t/ I　　On a fine day, the land,

　　Clad in white, adorned in red,

& z1 A/ K/ f( w　　Grows more enchanting.

& \$ G5 `' }4 h3 ^' e5 f1 [$ Z　　This land so rich in beauty

　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

　　Were lacking in literary grace,

2 T1 w. m; A# s, {/ @0 p% [　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu
7 B9 `7 P, h$ a' A) C( i
/ m* Y1 x5 a& ?% Z　　Had little poetry in their souls;
　　And Genghis Khan,

4 `$ t# c+ n5 }+ O7 B; x* b0 e　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,

# m$ y; B/ }& m& Q! K; ?  |1 j　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched

　　All are past and gone!

　　Look to this age alone.

　　须晴日 看红装素裹 分外妖娆
