9 ~2 Y! f I; i, {2 P; DEDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.

7 O% |1 R Q( u8 Z/ D! PThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.8 ^8 L) T H8 E* {( c& ^) O9 w5 a2 y$ G
* n: J9 t3 c: VPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
