" F8 G7 I; F8 Y* j" BExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall, H4 D+ }7 M8 y/ F- `
not do any of the following:
: N4 J; w: }1 x* ^) ](a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
9 f1 l) ^/ C1 B6 L% ~& Yvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;& e$ @9 @: t' |' K; \
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
' }) f6 \' h! D/ |/ m% [5 `vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
, v, ~# A4 J, {9 R2 M(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
- } O% a- x T) X* S9 kpermit another person
4 i. B/ }" k9 L; R(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or7 U$ E! ^4 z: |" B- \# v- k) r; `
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,: K9 O0 d% h4 S+ |
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;- w0 A9 `: t+ E
(d) give or lend a financial! E* {" t0 l' O W" k) w
responsibility card or a copy of it
9 h6 R1 Q% b, I+ a" P7 |to a person not entitled to have that financial$ I5 Z- B" `. W5 h4 y+ R9 c
responsibility card or copy.
9 i' L, E+ v: M b0 Y2 U, |1 o( m& ^(1.1)
" z4 i' k% _' E! sIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway; ~8 T8 Y; ]1 }$ R; y
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of7 Z X2 T) ], T# M
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
7 ^2 w3 o& O& ?% M" n(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is5 ~( d2 i6 r! J
not an insured motor vehicle.; s) h$ a8 z/ o8 l/ o$ F, s( u

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this& C$ e) T8 N. o$ @
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

' V, X @6 d1 j" Y5 n8 c5 ]Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a8 \; D+ Y2 i( g0 J6 w
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the* S& q* O1 u1 M/ ?
Insurance Act

A0 y) I4 M% M% S(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,

and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
8 |1 {( i0 _$ u1 T) S1 zimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not* B! U) u. N. K0 Y5 i
more than 6 months
