t0 ?6 _5 c' z, k, A

+ I6 |: p! A) ^        1. I couldn't care less. 3 ^; a4 t: k  ~' r0 j+ H
3 v* d5 c- T5 i0 f- t6 U4 t+ H
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
6 k( E, s$ A; n0 Z6 }+ g$ O6 g+ t$ r: r3 }
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
+ p/ O9 ^0 ^5 k% X- Q3 e/ Q$ H% g" {6 P
  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) # n8 F% J) O/ _3 `( O9 ^
6 C( Z1 a$ p& h8 R$ L0 t' ?$ b* a
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) ! t% a* u* Z& I4 |3 Z( ?6 B

* L, S1 t, v/ ^" v% h9 q8 H  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
( y* ^6 G5 b2 K0 m$ ^
+ A/ m( I5 r9 ^- U7 ~) s, E

! g: o$ p# i7 C! e; O4 ^: }  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) & F0 V: W* n3 r8 {/ \/ J- M# Z
8 w2 U' R) E/ f$ i( p7 _9 }5 v
Yes, you do(care). ; f  Z7 D( }: J5 a# X6 M1 K  Y7 B8 Y

6 _: r5 Q% }7 B2 R  N  至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
% @% m% [  I" P( }
7 G8 W% O% V% r/ J4 x9 x7 B! |) |  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) ( s& r  S: [: S5 W
# u0 Z9 ]- H, E3 V) O
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
9 h+ O2 f; n- d; x4 a& t- @1 `' K. I( ~/ @+ I6 v( [1 Q
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
" V# Q! w% @! }4 i, [* A) Y' f
3 e* r# n# |: z1 x- j, y2 J7 U* V$ n3 i- f3 y9 k9 S6 H
  I couldn't be more wrong.
' X$ d  p! F5 X; D( g6 B" e# e8 I; y& ^) J7 s: ^. i

I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) ( F# Q4 J+ r' ~9 [, E% `  `
: L  {. }9 A( @& r  t: B) H. u8 q
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
+ Y) B2 @# q* I  t9 D8 y9 j( r0 ^/ C  n
  2. No bones about it. . @( w( F8 ^5 M

; c# x5 l& r6 u0 w1 ?  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如: / }4 r9 f0 n( G

, q  D8 t3 x/ B& o4 S* N; _  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) $ U2 l, k( N% f
* Z4 p& m9 r& A! `
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) 2 j9 n: r! ]2 k9 m+ Y- X# W* |
; I  U0 G; j* _) h$ z
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) " K/ n5 v: v4 L) S. Z9 f& X
- s* H/ J2 M% F7 `# Q
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) # R0 X3 ~% I4 B6 g  M3 u0 R- @9 X; I4 |% M

  @. G9 d. |% W5 w" \- `  3. take it on me! # D) ^% A1 `. Q# W

( ^; R1 i, V8 A) [7 H& m( z6 v  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
' O& ?, `# T! W" |0 b% i+ f0 \* P4 E" s8 L6 G) ?
  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) ' P8 m, F8 @0 L2 R9 B, M, j

4 H% R. S' n) a6 o) Y0 e  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
. n7 s1 g* Q! `7 G' k
0 N# A; q( }% }1 \7 Q  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) $ m7 `4 |/ j8 [4 [
# s3 j0 p' _) m/ a. x
% {2 }4 ^; p  V; F8 G. b- _/ u0 T3 n' w. r1 ?, }# O0 l
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) , g5 a5 z6 T/ k) y

8 p& j8 ^' p1 i0 R0 t  4. I am from Missouri. * c5 g) F7 O! ~9 q9 R4 G

% L% ]7 I/ @" Q( `: u; s% I9 \  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 3 @( F8 ]. g* Z( h* v

  c& R2 Q( t1 X% c6 |) M* C2 L: v% V. [& c0 k
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. # u' H5 K8 E" J( U( y, j

$ \. S! h7 c) d" f+ N0 P+ p# b% ~  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) (别愚弄我,我是来自密苏里州。)
6 |; ]  E0 B" l% n
+ ~; n4 E0 {- W# u7 J  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown. " M+ X6 P: s" i$ g3 M
2 R1 p2 W6 y  C/ o4 W. l
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
