- G4 t" z0 y& M: G
. J2 y' ]: E6 }
        1. I couldn't care less.   _; |$ X  n# `4 [! ?+ p

. x' p* d1 O! I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: 2 v4 Q: Y$ O8 A( n4 v2 v
5 Y" R5 h2 _& q- m- R
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
3 n1 h# w' F# h- @. Q. T; [: ^! `: U$ D- V3 V- {
  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) / D' ?4 I7 t/ ~$ Z+ U

; s1 ~: n1 `% q2 F' k0 R0 z4 w  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
6 ^% q! _4 v3 |- m' q) {, t. p+ E. ^- e( g& x% v. L8 u
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!) ( K7 c1 M. G9 ~# }
9 B  v+ A+ W. G: p  v% n
  b. c- M& g( o/ X8 q9 m4 }0 O! u4 H) e  {$ Y  P. t9 I4 p% @
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
* f- I/ a/ H5 \; r$ N6 Z1 Z' i% F& d5 {7 V# S
Yes, you do(care). 5 v" A) N# f* c! j' ?4 Z

) N& c# y, \3 e% L& o  至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
% P# G4 U2 |# n) F9 ~  a# {8 `8 [( }9 ~+ _
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
3 t# f" M5 F0 m) L: b" ^8 U$ [7 u' O; t0 X$ h  W
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
3 X* N8 r, ~8 w! `& ]9 h& T& ^! o( K1 w
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. 3 O4 c; r/ e5 s( }5 F- _* }$ t- {
6 p9 a5 J. p+ u* S; n
, Y% q: v( X# H' }# x5 e' G2 _: J" G3 A* C7 j
  I couldn't be more wrong. 8 z6 |  ]( ]6 w" E
5 ^+ p7 c+ B( m+ \
1 i1 G$ y3 d# N/ i* r

3 ~4 l4 U( j: R7 m  不过,严格来说,I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)   A/ H- w7 X; f- _# F$ L

, b" v  _5 P: L" @+ Q6 E/ h' M, k4 u# N  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
& u4 o7 [4 P7 N$ y7 v& g9 i: U" D2 z+ K6 w5 E
  2. No bones about it. % S6 e9 p5 u! a; g: z1 s
1 q" q% W1 f7 h7 ^- o) C
  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如: , s2 S$ y, s0 Q
! F* B- |' ^5 O' y, d; h# U
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
. ?& g* ^/ p1 N7 n. t% `* w4 ]: {( Q% O* g. P5 M: w, ^
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) ) b  W9 u7 ^7 |& d0 M

; [/ Y% o3 G- s3 I  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) 7 }( T' W/ R$ s9 ]

9 l7 U% T& D) s- C+ [6 |. g. ~+ t  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) - P! q- T1 }) U8 B
7 C; G- ^/ O- R
  3. take it on me!
" H3 u! [  Y3 c! |: C* L2 o
% R: f- H' ]2 V( p8 t  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
1 D2 A5 T! }( Y7 u
) J. e7 _# G' G* S  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) ! t0 _9 M% d( g% X! S, t

2 f, y+ \+ b( v- v4 ?6 U  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." ! f4 F$ m" e$ h/ S" e, l
9 s" `& n6 k' {' t6 |  j
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
7 T) @: |( U8 \3 b( ^5 G+ m! M

  t% Q8 E3 b! D5 e4 k( j' d, j0 T7 G  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
4 M6 l9 Q9 f5 g/ S3 ]0 y4 c/ A8 m: m& n& \
  4. I am from Missouri. 9 c0 w) J& m7 _

3 l5 O2 \4 {; i* R9 c& Y+ P! z  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 4 ?9 ?9 O& }/ p

( N- F, F0 I" n. u" v& r" |
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. 7 T# d2 `- s) m, e  ^7 J0 a

; m( _9 [. W  I5 W4 f  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.)
2 f, a+ r+ u9 C" T8 A
2 d! w) {  }" t4 E5 J+ O  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
6 D+ j$ w% ^- e
/ G( Z2 R' A* g  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
