Responsibilities and Tasks: L; F2 R8 j: t& F' k
/ c4 V0 W: z' ~% N0 M- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
0 x0 O4 |/ _. H* _! E0 e. ~. W# l- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements- H8 }0 b R$ N" n
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
" p. _' R# K- D4 M& B- Select type and size of pipe required2 o8 F" \9 g1 E' A9 \9 i
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
. n0 e. l) u# c# Y9 H9 W1 Z- F( z' L- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system9 E6 ]' U# r! N2 ]- \* ]% f( I
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems7 [( M$ _" z, k; Z
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment# g8 W1 b" Z; I: ^ R3 \
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system3 B Y# A% c! [( c! `! b
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

Required Qualifications* m! q' a/ e0 P) I; K4 z6 O% t$ B. O
! _1 M% b* U4 I- [- Completion of secondary school6 ~' p) m, N7 L- W. @
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
3 B' ~7 J- i, x3 }0 J- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset6 M- i1 @. L* I. K$ y
