- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment 6 Q6 ^" f* t9 W" l. k
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
- n6 x, M. h8 H8 M( k- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines% U! r6 i, P4 ]' e( V
- Select type and size of pipe required
h O! H. G( z: U& d3 d$ @5 N- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools* V, E' T i5 n* }
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
% N$ b0 @" w o& u- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
. a1 ~9 n2 ]6 R7 g- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
7 `3 ]5 A& R+ H" V* I& k- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
: X2 p! X$ q0 g4 D- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

- Completion of secondary school1 H( @2 Z9 b& g: z
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation ! M5 Z3 Q+ m/ H3 F
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals V4 I" g3 A3 p
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
' G) O' R0 R7 Z4 Q3 C2 n- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset

- Interprovincial Red Seal is an asset
