A Fort McMurray man was announced Thursday as the winner of $21.8 million in last week's Lotto Max draw.

( A; D( j% x3 O1 n; u5 K# yChris Fowler, 55, is a heavy equipment operator originally from Newfoundland who has lived in the northern Alberta city for the past 30 years.

& m1 {0 V+ O w, k; IFowler had been carrying around his ticket for days before checking the numbers at a local gas station. Now he's making plans for his winnings.( g2 P/ c& e# u" N

"Help my family get debt-free, do some travelling, see the world," he said. "I'm going to retire next week."
