• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed# u: _1 ` [* t0 G
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components3 \4 E$ a/ Q& x. i2 V! f
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
; h% B- E; d* m, H" o• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams- l/ z1 j. C \3 B5 A0 q
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
; D& d# V% j: i( ]5 _9 v• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
: q; u5 f; j1 g4 I6 n• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools" o2 l1 I* @3 v5 b
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting) S) J( k7 `! ]; a) v
• Mix paint, blend and match colors1 \: u0 B) ^, s
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns/ q5 V) R, y$ ?( L
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
$ a, o! k: k) F! D• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation$ |0 u3 q! b5 h2 K* d% D
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling

• Completion of secondary school is required* E1 D. P/ Z2 |( ~4 _ a8 f6 @
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program

A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade ! o$ `- ?4 s( [* o9 s
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
