• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
9 u( \1 H# D, k8 i1 _" Q8 a' _• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
8 _" p: _: U8 V/ }4 G: T0 @5 e• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
7 ~' O8 p1 t. M- _1 R* ?• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams& M$ f1 H0 j; T8 a; S+ P4 G
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
- x: r' [- P* {' h5 X) A. L• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
5 b* }. k1 S5 `, y: Q• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
( l# a* u, h ^, Z7 B+ E; f• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
3 Z7 t( ^0 D# Y3 ~) z8 e: }" `• Mix paint, blend and match colors
$ m1 G( \" Q% L) p+ a$ G• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
y% n+ h: [# a' @5 f/ J• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs

• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling

* k k( M7 V3 }) o• Completion of secondary school is required2 W2 X. m! d' c2 L
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program

A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
( `8 s( _8 }' q" C! h8 q9 g• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory e6 w+ o% @0 \- c
