Dose anyone knows why the vinyl sidings are always installed horizontally rather than vertically? Is it because of insulation? Sometimes at certain areas, vertical-looking siding do add appeal and value  to the house.

if you look at the bottom of a piece vinyl siding panel, you will find some small holds for water to drip off. Also, the interlocking system works better if they were installed horizontally.

Depends on the material and labour; price for vinyl and stucco gets very close. Personally I like vinyl siding better because I don't like to see the cracks on stucco.
