YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
* j% E' i/ a/ x6 r* l" z2 r( |; gAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
5 A% f1 E. O$ @, E$ ~peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

+ J. {6 c+ l% d' M9 Z. d- _- Oproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
* f$ g1 @/ X  [9 U+ {: U/ JThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
" Y7 D3 n, A, m8 @( A; ]the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
: L7 e" g- @1 y# R! R1 ?participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
) c: m$ H0 I. w$ C# I* Rpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
; g* \, ~; Q% _! }5 c- p- J2 @Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
/ Z# q: C; k/ ], Z, q9 tand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
* L- n; ]' \5 ], l7 lfollow-up once the program is completed.

YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
