; M2 p! E5 m; |% p: H7 RYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
9 g" i5 z+ B0 p0 f4 ~9 G# `peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
+ t% k2 d( D  G/ m6 t7 f9 \
, S3 F3 Z4 g8 O9 X+ s! k9 w7 W( K- }6 Oproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
! B) b: y1 Q+ h) j7 k  ?5 L1 gThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
- X% T# X! t: V" n- h6 ~the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
; f5 ?5 ]. Q0 ^5 v. y' c- ~participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
- r; t1 F8 P( J0 t6 j& ^personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
2 T( _9 S/ P" dfollow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
" o' B' y' D2 G) W* ~YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
