YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
3 x. V+ [. P. ^4 k) bpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
, F' Q4 m" A# w: }The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
' g) q1 I: T! h" ]8 L  hThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
, o0 @2 f, k! i# d4 B* ?. uparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
* O7 F4 ~$ f9 D* u' \) Dpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
