The Human Resources Advisor is a generalist position, responsible for providing a range of support and expertise, enabling management to deliver best practices and human resource solutions which support the business operations of the PCN.

Key Responsibilities+ m& H8 x8 {3 a
The key responsibilities of this role is to review and ensure effectiveness of day-to-day human resources functions, includes, but are not limited, to:
  X3 q5 \2 E: P) h9 U4 ?' u1. Recruitment, Selection and Orientation( U' Q. k7 S" I, O8 _) \
• Provide guidance and support for recruitment, sourcing, job postings, screening, interviews, reference checks, and selection practices, as well as job offers
; n; U+ c+ N# h! @: `• Develop, administer and evaluate applicant tests) j/ x! }) b. o& z* O' h
• Ensure job descriptions are kept current
7 r4 x2 y3 v. K( T• Manage the new employee orientation and orientation programs# ~+ J5 e% x( D0 n# u
• Support the administration of probation evaluations for all employees
$ _% {' Z- d) C0 |, l
& h9 D9 h: q  P2. Policy and Procedure
% O% v" {" M" x/ Z' w( m• Provide recommendations for policies and procedures; when identified as a priority and delegated by the General Manager, develop the necessary documentation and seek approval, @- h' J5 V! r+ @
 Manage all policies and procedures to ensure consistency, references are correct and there is no duplication or contradictions  q* p1 J, B4 _5 B# Q
• Advise all employees, especially Team Leads and Managers, on interpretation and administration of policies, procedures, programs and legislative compliance8 V* T  D# b% ~  O" _9 {. P

9 [% Z6 J# N/ j& \2 c3. Performance Management Support
$ j& W4 w$ ~, z8 p: W2 h• Monitor attendance/absenteeism and assist with the administration of performance management program
  ~: p1 l* z: W( L• Support Team Leads and Managers in the administration of discipline and employee coaching
5 Z6 b1 R9 r. ^) u% R+ _• Provide resolutions to employee relation issues (e.g. employee complaints and harassment allegations)' G+ [0 r! Y2 g5 g% s. l+ V' ~
• Conduct exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations
5 C' h' b( E/ O• Member of, and responsible for, the Rewards and Recognition Committee' \9 v$ K0 [+ Z& \  |$ {

% h0 r, }& }$ A: w9 V4. Human Resource Information Gathering
8 P- `2 `) m: z) ?5 ?" l. f- q• Maintain accurate records and compile statistical reports relating to personnel data – e.g. hires, absenteeism rates, performance appraisals8 |+ n) i3 @% ?; _/ d3 t
• Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organization's personnel policies and practices

$ I; x) h5 d3 E) r5. Management Support and Planning
& f9 Y9 H: x! U% r: T% R% }1 U• Provide input and support to the management team on employee relations issues- M3 y7 r$ X4 r6 I% h
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation& i; B2 [5 P) X; ~/ V( r

1 Y9 b( y0 g2 U% l$ a6. Job Evaluation, Compensation and Classification
* a" {5 t1 ]4 v• Administer and record employee rewards, recognition and incentive programs0 Y/ u+ D" |- t
• Manage salary structure and job evaluation system, from time to time, as required* d  D0 ^3 ^8 H; G$ k

" O  M' R: |  o* ^& ]* L' q5 \7. Payroll and Benefits
$ b4 u1 h& T9 D# U! f• Oversee payroll administration and maintain relationship with payroll provider9 s' L9 M! L8 f# @( V: H0 Q
• Administer and educate employees of benefits and maintain a sustainable relationship with insurance providers
- e$ W1 w, K$ X: Y7 ~- B* U• Manage claims for short-term and long-term disability, and ensure effective return-to-work programs
+ `. s6 H0 k* B
  c# v7 Q! \* Y7 u' m  J* aHealth and Safety) @+ B  Q. U* S( _5 ]; @/ Q
• Be a member of the Safety Committee2 s9 ^6 F$ H  h

  b: `) w. R8 Q4 a9 kQualifications & Expertise
- J6 M  G0 }7 `4 I8 U Minimum 5 years of experience as an HR generalist (series of progressive specialist roles will also be considered)+ e! z& i- ?9 h7 V0 `
 Minimum 2-year diploma, preferably in human resources or business administration specializing in HR, or related area of study (equivalencies will be considered)8 |, C$ U% [& j6 ?; j
 A CHRP designation is an asset
/ D: p) s- B$ A+ w) H3 z6 t# ^ Experience in the health care industry is an asset
) S( f1 b9 {% F& N9 A& }$ M Experience managing change is preferred
1 X, o5 I- n: P Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook  I- n$ W( A! i; i4 m, Z

* {/ i( J7 b: z0 G% `& q- v8 Q. n& PPersonal Attributes) h4 W  O$ l3 G& T
 Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills
$ S4 t4 m% E/ i5 Q: ^" T Effective interpersonal/relationship skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
& J4 J4 F' r# {; |9 G, p; e' h Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times, including keeping employee information confidential

 Good analytical and problem-solving skills# v  n4 B( I; \
 Able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment+ m6 D- a- p% v

Hours of Work & (if any) Special Considerations
6 H, V, ^9 z# N7 z) G( }+ n8 G6 j37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday exclusive of lunch/breaks during standard operating hours. Early morning or late evening meetings may occasionally be required, particularly if meeting with physicians.
