Resource Room Advisor/Resume Writer
- n0 k: ]( Z! s; E$ q Provide ongoing positive encouragement and support to clients accessing the Resource Centre.7 M5 p# w6 h  L
 Continuously interact with all clients in the Resource Area to ensure that their job search requirements are being met.' y- ~% u. T4 M0 w! ]6 a
 Provide information regarding job search strategies and labour market information.
- p& ]* J, |0 m# Z1 g Assist clients with resume and cover letter development, effective job search techniques, interview skills, and accessing the hidden job market after workshop completion.
- {2 K; s/ S4 ?8 z Maintain all resources in the Resource Room insuring that they are current and relevant.3 {% P6 J9 u  o+ \! E
 Update and maintain job boards.

 Engage with and build a professional trusting relationship with newcomers, treating them with dignity and in line with the values of the Bredin Institute.6 a( n/ I! H5 d9 R6 E3 ~/ r
 Support newcomers participation in the settlement program.7 t$ ~( }2 x5 d' _0 G7 _% Q8 V0 D
 Promote Bredin Institute’s mission, vision, values and strategic objectives.0 }1 l4 ]. T* J) q4 q5 [. N( @6 ^
 Encourage independence and self determination in newcomers
+ w3 H3 |4 Z5 i2 s1 t Work with newcomers in assessing their needs and a needs-based settlement plan.# d; Z& A0 L& |# e# A* R6 m+ u
 Liaise effectively with a range of service providers, both voluntary and statutory, in order to ensure services are available to newcomers.4 g  Z+ J) P+ y% x7 m- P" V+ I1 R) _
 Accompany newcomers to other agencies and to act as advocate as necessary.! n" J5 y, x. M, }7 W/ p
 Ensure that newcomers know and understand their entitlements.7 d/ f$ @, W4 e/ f% Y
 Keep up-to-date all other administrative tasks as directed by the Program Co-ordinator.

 Attend multi-agency and multidisciplinary meetings, as required

 Responsible for intake, orientation and completion of workability assessments.
2 G6 S1 b. v/ L- \$ C! X0 x Deliver program overview to potential clients, as well as other interested parties.
7 j: _1 W6 b7 |2 z0 y6 H Screen and assess clients’ skills and abilities through a workability assessment.
: H& O% `, w6 C Determination of which stream of services most appropriate for the client.
9 A* T+ K* X: n' I Provide referral information on other services that may be more suitable for the client.' \4 `  n! i9 W) h: l& z
 Cooperatively with the client, develop an individualized service plan.

 Interact with participants on a continuous basis so that the Service Plan progress can be monitored throughout the program and into the follow up period

 Ensure that participants have access to the required supports to successfully complete their Service Plan
- V" N9 x8 p  X Assist clients in maintaining a job or in identifying barriers/issues that keep clients from obtaining/maintaining employment& E/ {* l- V  t
 Assist clients with obtaining required documentation for working in their profession in Canada
/ i1 H) X0 y3 x, @3 ] Develop and maintain knowledge of current programs and services available for participants
" Y2 g4 U" ^+ ]5 w Complete participant reviews with the participants/ Q3 e' U( _8 |6 U
 Complete 90 and 180 day follow up with client after training completion
+ V7 j! H5 s7 G6 S' L# @0 b Perform other duties as assigned by manager/coordinator
