Position Profile Heavy Duty Mechanics inspect, service, and maintain diesel locomotives in accordance with federal and company regulations.

& u+ }% H% q. n- vDiagnosing diesel engine malfunctions and making indicated repairs
6 c5 W" s) W/ D& `( ?/ M( o* TOperating machinery in a safe and effective manner
% B0 U' O! p1 DProviding daily locomotive maintenance that includes changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts
Assembling and starting engines
Diagnosing locomotive component malfunctions
) v6 V1 ^9 M0 J* ?) S# QPreparing inspection, work and maintenance reports

Working shifts, sometimes away from home

0 F. M  {. @! m7 Q+ uVisual acuity and hearing threshold tests are required for this position. Written pre-employment tests to become a Machinist Apprentice are required for this position. Completion of 3-year apprenticeship is required to become a Journeyman Machinist. This position is subject to night, weekend and holiday work hours when needed.
