/ J" k& A: N }+ x" Sdrawn from a wide cross-section of the community. Established in
b0 c: F5 m/ R( B/ r1903, Alberta College predates both the City of Edmonton and the 0 v# j% F! d# \( h
Province of Alberta. It was founded by concerned citizens as the
+ j% J3 a9 `) \& s7 Wfirst post-secondary school in the area, on land bequeathed by
3 E h& a) V( s0 p/ mpioneer George McDougall for educational purposes. The College ( E2 \# S; W7 D( `# h
initially had three departments: academics, commerce and music, $ I) M i$ t5 X
and its main purpose was to prepare young students for 0 R: b$ N4 \5 W4 c, U
