Delivers, sorts and picks up mail, parcels, courier documents, cylinders, crates, dangerous goods, furniture, tack boards, tables and chairs, surplus equipment, and any related incoming and outgoing items; l8 l$ Z5 ~+ S, } p( w! }
Obtains signatures, scans traceable items into Palm Pilots upon delivery to departments/ T, `/ o% [2 ] ?# @' ?6 g/ J W
Ensures Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations are followed on TDG shipments inbound and outbound
% T) K* L$ x+ O7 B7 WPrioritizes workload and requests from dispatcher and team lead
( x8 l& X( E8 O( t0 x7 oOperates University vehicles from small vans to 3-ton trucks, including standard transmissions
4 ~# B7 g0 ^! A d0 kPerforms related duties as required; C; l$ ^6 V4 G
Qualifications
" w4 w* c6 Y. t6 r/ Q( p+ }Valid Class 5 drivers license - the successful candidate will be required to provide a Drivers' Abstract and have completed a Defensive Driving course in the previous 2 years.
3 M% |: [% g: H% ]High School diploma; previous driving experience required& K+ u0 R X$ G
Current certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods; Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) certification
+ q0 g2 D) E h! c0 ]0 g. R# o+ q4 lTraining related to proper handling procedures of Radioactive and Biohazard materials Q! H u# l' q7 \ f
Ability to operate equipment including forklift, power-jack, pallet-jack, Johnson bar
