Youth Worker

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

) x% ?* ?* Z2 j1 n' j$ J- i Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
! e8 J7 |  K# _* Y8 Y: b& J Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
9 j$ ]( k% A5 E; L Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.1 ]  Y3 r" \: B) @; e3 t
 Completing required paperwork.' I* x+ I9 b1 ?9 L" |( `
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
$ h$ f& u/ ^& S# E Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.9 ^: N# b. p. X4 f. M7 K
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
: m  X( J" l3 k% m Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.1 Z4 {! ?: ?3 P; z8 C
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.1 ]) @+ ~% I% K1 ~4 O0 T+ a1 Z
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.! n# ?; x+ z& h; N: g
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.% a9 |; {2 E0 ~' y

3 T' O/ g/ w6 _" Z! m6 ZQualifications:
# y' j4 b% j) P" J& n% O. @: X5 l: S9 V2 A1 X( X
 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.! x  a- {* N" [( |$ w( Q. \
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills., w% d( M2 _% b, d3 g/ z2 p1 `
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.2 V2 W0 s# Q" K2 `4 T; C6 h8 X
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
9 E3 K4 z2 ]- `( H Knowledge of community resources.9 s0 e* o' q  a4 Z( G5 P1 }9 ~
 Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance., S9 R  @" k3 X. Z2 z9 J. l& W
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.
/ Z& R, G9 w$ V& P6 r3 K  [2 m9 ^$ V7 f; d6 w  O% V+ m7 v$ |
Position:7 F1 i, C7 ^; X" W; I' [
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; evening and weekend shifts; at an hourly rate of $12.50; starting February 8 2006. 8 x5 f+ B5 k/ D7 X; E4 A
There is a 3-month probationary period.
