New Program-‘ Tweenie Program’ (Ages 8-12)
Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  j! M* T0 u6 Y9 Z& w& a- M Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
2 i- n- l, ~& o1 Y9 W. n Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
. G) J! l' U8 e7 N8 ? Completing required paperwork.
# J5 f6 ?, _5 O& n5 j: Q1 [1 F Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
) S' G. u7 y) K2 A  e* J Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
+ n, t- d( m- |/ w9 ?# @. } Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
4 U4 X6 t& f: C3 B; M9 r Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
" q7 R8 s" O" l9 T/ q5 e8 V; d Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

( p# V6 E3 d1 a" WQualifications:

 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
2 i: l$ j+ n3 Y& ]3 P! @$ Q Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
% h7 y  V7 r9 W  L/ ^, N- E2 d Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
; y, R* a* v7 u Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
9 X% q' J3 w: P" D! E Knowledge of community resources.
 Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
1 O0 C) N( E3 Q7 S( r' B- b4 _starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
