New Program-‘ Tweenie Program’ (Ages 8-12)
Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre


Key Responsibilities & Duties:

, q, P5 {. c4 K' S; B0 V& { Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
 Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
  h* |" M. v; @  s Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
 Completing required paperwork.
* E6 g/ ?* c8 v4 s/ v1 U Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
  _  ]* i% I2 S, ~; M( q" L Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
5 _8 E8 e) b8 C$ X Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.


Qualifications:

& u8 _% G$ v/ T4 m$ r( K Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
3 T% }8 D4 a% E" f/ c Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
: Z6 `# ^) E7 J& K9 w% z2 w5 @ Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
" [6 o4 C6 n8 m& C Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

; N! _! i5 h& K- ]. I0 @- J7 ?This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
