FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

1 ?, ?4 j0 ^5 q8 R. MEnterprise Data
' E5 d5 W4 n# M. I  x• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
& f6 O6 ~' X2 r1 f: L1 \8 D9 O• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

+ c6 @7 R5 n7 p5 N% ?• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
% @( r" v- m. A. |( J% M4 @' e• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
0 `" C" ]/ m+ Z• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
% A+ s- @5 X5 g7 ]* b- Q  U1 ^• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

2 c7 t5 H/ Y; fSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
3 V. s0 e- b4 U" }0 u• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
# u- R" V( E) ?: i9 {  ~• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
5 W; Q% n. H- H2 x& A) {• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
( Y3 a$ i/ K+ M1 K! D3 n! Y' X• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
# I9 c" v! p# \• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
1 K- d( k3 c$ _7 \& H8 Q• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
& J2 M" C+ \: o$ c* w5 e: P• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
% x4 j5 D* H$ }• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
