FUNCTION:
4 H1 J5 V3 M& q* w) }& S' S( g- MAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

* {( k/ [: s- f# z3 q* bDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
# a8 r4 q  {- ]8 {Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
/ V- X# m4 a0 _. ?; J( H• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
; @; U3 |& Y( @• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
* q/ u' z1 j% t) v3 _/ h; R• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
. g9 M1 ^0 I& p1 J  t8 W" C- q• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
9 v- a- t' v2 w0 v• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
7 H0 C" Y/ T% c* u8 B1 _  z• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
: |7 n% X0 A( y* R: Z• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
! T0 O1 U5 [  |7 r: v• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
8 |8 }$ Q, H! @• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
- `& `5 p3 A0 w/ K: x- @. c• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
1 ?9 Z2 |3 ?! ~: _# O• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
