FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
; L. H3 k$ O. a6 O4 e) k• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

$ _! u; d7 ]' Y5 ^+ P• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
6 d5 P2 @. S( k  C( Y0 z• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.

$ ?' f$ K6 ?0 _, @9 d2 r9 J* G0 h• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- |, U; f! Y3 z$ f9 B! j& g• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
# L0 j6 V4 f0 Y/ A• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
6 s3 A  i% F/ m/ T( N5 ^5 k; Q/ S2 d• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
1 ^# E9 A4 Z1 u* t8 V• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
7 K0 g* d# V2 i0 f. Q• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
