FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

; d% o" ~0 z  N! q. O% v9 IDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.

Bi /Reporting/ETL
! f/ o0 {0 b$ {) {9 R# n8 |• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
* j! T5 \; c* U0 v• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
+ c) k! X' ?, [* x4 L2 c/ a1 t• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
7 Y: l- J% H$ L% V# \7 {! I• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

& a/ G: n2 M  d$ oSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
7 I( L4 j5 [# j) m• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
/ o4 p+ i4 [+ r: B% B! A+ F• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
- ~$ ?' P. ?4 S. n' E& Q  Y• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
# I- ]( w0 D7 H, e) j4 e• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
* A! O. v" u$ \0 g• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
& x5 N' }, I& U* h• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
' x0 S, w; Y4 I% |; X0 o9 @• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
; L8 R1 C, r1 |2 t• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
