Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or $ B5 u) d3 @ Y ?; }; K0 O
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to

+ K# G! x7 H7 l0 B5 N; l Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. $ `3 V* \- V. q" c
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, + H8 `: {4 p. K1 a% v0 P, V
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social ( i2 O- U/ W, ^: h
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as 0 D' Z' I" }% D% ~8 Z& m; P
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for ' S; m) ]9 H' J9 a1 ^' P
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
9 S) _) G: V6 g; Cassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-' p4 k7 e8 X: D" ?. x& @5 X
centered delivery model. ! I' h: I9 p9 i2 V7 ~2 x

Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental - z/ I; P0 x# f- p

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers. $ o, ?2 }3 g0 C- D! G, \7 f
Treat all clients with dignity and patience in order to listen deeply and give thoughtful

, u: U) n! c C: V8 E+ u( f Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
# S m- d6 m) aexperience in Social Work or related human service fields. $ O- n9 x: E! }* |# o; ?7 P- S5 g: H
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
- y z; H3 p) _4 m! _* c5 D: rsupport needs
4 }4 d5 Y* M6 c Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications E9 d& a0 R8 c7 M3 b" n, g# k
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages & A; P7 Z/ Z! u7 H: Y+ S. w. I
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate & [( w# @* [' S! ^2 M& D) g
insurance coverage for work 4 F% N7 k# b+ t
! g' _4 m4 c; o* rExperience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
