Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or
8 g) C7 n9 N) V# @. Mcommunity cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to + B; I7 D* Q( S2 Q4 N9 Y/ w& @
provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs. 2 C$ R4 h- U# o
+ I6 i% [5 i v' }1 @ Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
1 B% g6 m5 o* [8 `+ t( wThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, ; Z/ c' a6 B, g6 m
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social 0 d4 r8 w; ~, C' f
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as , o% ~/ _" o% |+ r
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for ! W; @" i9 f3 ^: h
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial 8 T G3 D. x U& u5 e5 g* `- u+ I0 Q
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-% N* o6 d) W, b& Z2 a7 x
centered delivery model. ' v1 d3 E5 k+ _+ z9 z

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental

5 p5 o4 T1 ?: d$ X, BQualification

Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and 2 w) l3 M) f& ^
experience in Social Work or related human service fields.
3 k( T! J: r0 w Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family ' x h) B; f0 @6 d6 B
support needs ' u* f( A" {% K9 e+ r! C
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications " x8 ]$ z7 K- b) f0 g" S
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
