Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and   I) p- i2 e: A, D7 p) _
execution of the YWCA Strategy
* A6 l( p+ e+ e& k
4 T9 T& n8 ?( J9 f0 W  HSpecific responsibilities include:  2 S" o' j7 ?  I( [: U. ^9 T6 ?
9 E+ R/ j! s6 ], H( {/ c8 F2 k
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
# _  ~" M, e4 O. ]8 g* M8 Zthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
4 g7 O- B8 m. H* \, y) S0 V0 Sthe Board of Directors;  5 L8 e4 C# t9 Y0 S* q) Y
•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
. s5 j  L$ r* |including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to   R1 R. e7 v1 j( a/ B
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; $ t8 {3 g' N% C3 {7 E* s
•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
( ^! e" l) @( T$ H% z& y+ Xobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
: \+ _* U4 C% B1 L3 xthe board;  # P5 V- t+ i+ x0 J+ q
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  ' G9 f7 |: \( q+ F/ H
•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
$ W2 O$ H  o( `+ e; Y. |the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
, {5 r* j" A$ Q. S, [: j1 b" @•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
- n; A# S/ [9 p1 P+ B; ~% _  Zchanging needs of the organization and community;
3 I/ x# Z: u5 d' m( `) O. S•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
7 u4 @$ P" I& h  z0 y! U: U. acommitments; & C8 H$ q; V" Z/ A2 B1 ?( d
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;    B; V# l5 [4 H: u+ j" L8 k
•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
! o8 ?: r; x! r9 kselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  
. G: C, M2 v3 z•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; 9 W5 h0 u  G4 U  C% ^5 n6 x
•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
) l6 y! v1 m. Y4 I& Zeffectively and positively represent the association; 4 C+ ]5 n6 z- q9 T2 l# T% a
( s, `. Y& @# ~; Z
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring / S" ~3 O: ?* F/ A* v; B
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;  1 t& h+ M4 n" C
•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal ( `& a& d' _( M! \
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
) u. h0 b, E" I5 i6 gthe forthcoming year;  
  m5 E$ Q# D: y* N4 ?# O2 p$ y•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
0 S  }: e0 }' k& a5 a# Upractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 4 l+ A* h5 S6 [+ m; W' S* K
YWCA Canada; and
+ t5 {+ a$ _1 i" @7 x' |" D•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task $ j" j6 W/ y1 ]6 c0 v, \
Forces.

Required Skills & Abilities   J) w1 ]9 n6 C0 E, V
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
4 f9 E2 T4 x: x, ~' H0 e. ~* c•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
7 E0 u2 L. m) q, _; q5 Aaround decisions, plans and actions;
1 T. t! U8 [( O( B& V•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; / b" r; E8 S5 x) {) j, T: G
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
  K! W6 ]  g; h5 p: Band achievable with realistic timeframes; - B3 j- q: P3 Z, ~) C0 _+ E
•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks

•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build 9 A- R2 y5 Q  c  U9 a. o5 _
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings; ( }( x  ^. L" D7 m4 e
•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and
) h1 L7 a! @5 S/ W9 w•  Superior negotiation skills.

( @' f) q/ ~) `6 M/ g•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. : Z9 c# g  U0 r' S8 E
, M0 E8 B" Y7 h2 }  X+ ?
Required Experience 9 d  X0 ^8 i& x% a- G
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; & z: L. N' j+ e- w9 R' M. o" M
•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
6 F5 J  g* D! L4 g! f- _abilities; ! d1 n" @& a& P( O* D
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, , h3 g; j: g. P2 \" x
Networking and Fundraising;
- D1 x5 H. o6 |( a1 i! m•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
" t! m1 Y' N( ]5 Z7 Q; aand financial statements; and
. B* O2 ~# m( y•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women ! i/ A* ~7 q0 ?. l
