Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 6 }1 E3 m: c% T. D" B! V0 D5 s
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by Z# S8 {. o# K3 A) M
the Board of Directors;
( p: Z b& g! y( m- O' j/ `• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 8 C8 G' q8 O3 g5 U" V- N! F- A
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
\& c& v. D# E, I5 zenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; ' U6 g& r( j6 P. Y: b
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
% }3 J8 y/ e% t5 Z+ bobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
" \/ A! W- `) ~! othe board;

• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion * N) e0 l" c8 O2 w) x3 T1 I4 K k
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; % a6 G" f$ m( g
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
4 K" F- H& @' F, Uchanging needs of the organization and community;
4 O7 X& _2 \4 D9 m6 w; o• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 6 m! C- W. @1 ~9 I: A) X

• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;

% U/ t7 N7 y! @selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; , R! F$ q4 q6 R1 I! }
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed; % L- i+ g# g5 ^$ L
• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
6 ?. K& N/ y v) _. `the implementation of systems to manage these risks; ! S( ~/ X$ U# O% T) H
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
4 z5 I( y# V. \1 E1 `6 }performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 2 p: M* S, h/ c8 M: c, h$ @0 g
the forthcoming year; 9 g% V" `2 R% r! }( w" j
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
$ Z+ ], Q* ]9 w) a0 epractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of - V( ?$ E% h" S4 i! V* N4 V3 y% \
YWCA Canada; and 5 F% D: ?/ f, T( a+ D) V
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 8 b9 U% D# g# z. H6 h2 m: J
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
