surrounding region.  Through generous support from a variety of funders and donors, YWCA & g! q- `, j0 u8 W

9 a$ P9 X8 U$ n" ~9 A5 O5 WReporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and
: [& K( u* Q! v7 R) `" H) ~4 Y! Fexecution of the YWCA Strategy
% B+ w0 l; j) U# ~4 W9 a
0 }+ `7 C  W3 _! ?' C" JSpecific responsibilities include:  : h1 `; ^; d  f- ?2 d. z& w/ E
% e8 [0 |# q, O. Q# @
•  Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of   }+ t1 |7 ]- e7 }9 w4 Q- c
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
; n. U( P/ m+ p. n" E& dthe Board of Directors;  
7 y$ f( ?2 d0 h$ U/ \8 y•  Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations 5 `: x. K" \' q) ~
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to / R2 s5 n3 ?0 S" R1 K1 w
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities;
! b- @+ F7 O3 j& r+ L$ E$ h' s•  Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
; J: d# n; B: K+ {8 g3 Fobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
4 c' r1 ?/ E; ~" ~the board;  ; B9 o/ i# H4 p  p( C+ K! |) T
•  Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;  
; h5 l. h9 `0 _# W9 d•  Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
+ X; V  m2 o( G- E4 mthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
' x; ^3 f5 C/ U•  Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the " B. i9 u6 G9 N
changing needs of the organization and community; 3 Y+ [% A8 j( |
•  Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue 8 ?) B  |/ B2 ^4 M; I
commitments;   Y  X9 t$ n4 E/ V
•  Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;  
& C, |4 _5 w& O8 G3 C8 y$ s•  Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective & X1 L% h! I+ L3 n2 i
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;  ' [( N* `% q6 U
•  Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
' A3 u& x, s2 G" d! t7 D; C% A•  Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
$ m- a5 k+ h8 j- i* s! y; b9 D+ o6 Xeffectively and positively represent the association;
, E$ v# h1 @" e. ^) j: r( V! b; o5 j8 p
•  Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
7 f4 i" K5 q; s+ Jthe implementation of systems to manage these risks;  
: c- Z5 x$ _8 b6 ], Z& Z•  Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
: U) ~% n7 d5 y( m& U8 x) w' c9 r7 Pperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
5 i4 t5 M# v* Z, _1 c& `2 p8 Cthe forthcoming year;  
7 E2 G; f3 K0 n  m•  Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
/ z1 G/ \* V, p7 ?8 t4 jpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of ( R! {! A' d% |& x) S* c/ f9 @
YWCA Canada; and
3 u% K, P% x- S  ?! r1 N) h0 y•  Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task
1 H* T# @  ^0 C  t; {4 t1 sForces.  3 S& v: o: O0 M  H

Required Skills & Abilities ; {- [6 P( y& r* s3 D+ c
•  Ability to develop and understand organizational goals, objectives and operations;
& O4 E! Y* q) `1 M2 J/ C2 k•  Ability to construct a convincing business case, express it clearly and gain consensus
. p+ @+ `# u5 o0 Daround decisions, plans and actions;
7 C% ^& e% M" _: g! M, M- J•  Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; % ^: T; n: S/ W+ F: {1 _+ I3 S+ X
•  Ability to manage and translate objectives into actions, which are specific, measurable
% }7 v4 d3 {. j5 h2 y7 T/ \: Fand achievable with realistic timeframes;
# i8 R1 t/ B# [, q; `•  Ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor a significant number of functions / tasks 4 ~8 \* q6 e" ]- o

•  Interpersonal Skills – Exceptional listening and communication skills and ability to build ' d" u+ I3 z3 M- y  G
rapport with stakeholders and diverse audiences in a variety of settings;
& P. o  p, p9 L/ Q& g  F•  Experience leading and empowering individuals to become star performers; and

Required Professional Designation / Certification
( m: K9 C+ E  K! z! p•  Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.
3 \; j3 F. X& |( E& O0 ]5 }. o6 ~  W* ~ * J/ z* u- p$ l" _1 H
Required Experience % A$ j2 H2 c% A* L
•  Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
9 S% t* C% S$ Q8 y•  Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation
/ N% H9 f( {7 p5 Y  x4 Oabilities; 0 U1 c9 N8 c+ }) ^) P: Q
•  Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
4 B. d. l+ Z3 m  [Networking and Fundraising; 7 E' h% o9 {; s) g! d# K# \
•  Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting / n. y5 g! R7 N% \
and financial statements; and
8 w- k0 C! m3 ~' O. V•  Experience advocating, empowering and championing women and girls from a women 2 x: T4 Q' P7 n
centered perspective. 9 J- A, R) }, D* n) x- ]+ |: g3 ~
