I have some questions for the guys who works as a electrician less than tow year or who want to learn more

1. a)How to drill two holes on uni-strut ? The drill bit is one quarter of one inch.  The distance between two holes is 10 CM. The tolerance is +1.00mm or -1.00mm.  b) It is request to finish in 5 minutes. 转两孔,误差1毫米

2. a)How to identify a hammer drill bit which is qualify to use or not?
b) After the hummer driller has power, answer the question in one minute.

3. a)The beam’s length is 10 mm. How many holes you can usually drill with a new one quarter drill bit before it becomes dull ?
b). If the drill bit is dull what can you do ?
c) Drilling 10 one quarter holes on the beam which is 10 mm length. The time is one hour for you. What tool you will use at this job and how to do ?

4. How to cut 50 pieces read rod. The length is 5 inches +_one quarter in 20 minutes.

5. How to remove an uni-strut, which was welded on the beam, off in 5 minutes. The welding length is  two inches. The welding position is at two side.(旱缝两寸两边旱).

6. How to remove a blanket off from beam in 5 minutes.  It was fixed on the beam by shooting gun, that means you can not use screw driver to work at here.

7. How to install a feet, which has four holes for half inch bolt , on concrete floor in 15 minutes ?

8. How to install a feet on the floor in 30 minutes? The floor structure is that the top is 4mm metal blanket and under the blanket is cement.

9. The cutting machine and chop saw is broken down. When you cut a uni-strut, how do you do for keeping 90 degree angle from the cutting surface to the neighbourly surface. ?(要求切面必需垂直)

10  One bracket was made by uni-strut.  Foreman request making hole at beam and using one quarter bolt to fasten the bracket. How do you drill hole with only one drill bit which size is one quarter and fasten the blanket on the beam. ?

Above are 10 basic questions for running the alumina tray and basket tray at Shell Scotforn job site.

There are two questions for panel:
1． How to install a electrical penal( just shell and gut )? What is most important question you need to ask your foreman before you fasten the gut ?

2． One guy (his name is jack_lai) made a mistake: ran a blue color wire for a breaker which has number 44 from a box to panel. The distance is 110 feet between box and panel. How do you fix this problem ?

做完上面十道题,我再放20-30 running basket tray 的题, 再作完. 那你几乎就是running basket tray 的 ”顶尖高手”. 好了废话少说, 接招吧!

怎么很多不像是电工干的活，还是工业电工就是干这个（没干过CABLE TRAY）。那个panel的问题不知道是我没看懂还是跟我干过的不同，我认为按图纸做就可以，不用问什么，除非需要改变位置。颜色用错了在时间允许的情况下一般都会换了（#12或#10），用红胶带也行（有些INSPECTOR可能不喜欢）。
另外，个人认为不必那么抢时间，不故意偷懒就行。

哥们，您是自愿的，而我可是被点将的，从这点来看就不公平。另外，本人不但不是“是running basket tray 的 ”顶尖高手””，而且几乎就没做过。还有，说实在的，你的问题回答起来很麻烦，有的问题我看的不是很明白，会进一步向你讨教。不过，既来之，则安之，我试试看吧。

在绘图中，按规定，“ The distance between two holes is 10 CM”通常指两个孔的中心点的位置，因此画距离为10cm的两点并打孔即可。但老赖在此为此问题显然不会如此容易，我想他是指两空孔的外缘的最短距离。如果是这样，那么：
1.找好第一个孔的中心点A的位置，画一条线（等号为unistrud）；
=====|==========================
2.用tape measure量出10cm，画第二条线；
=====|======10cm========|========
3.用任意一个直角的材料（H）置于A于第二条线之间，并对准第二条线；
=====|======10cm=======H|========
4.将quater inch drill bit （O）靠在直角材料外；
=====|======10cm=======H|O=======
5.夹住drill bit，沿着quater inch bit （O）的外侧画第三条线；
=====|======10cm=======H|O|======
6.则第一条线和第三条线的中心点就是center punch的落点。

注意：
1. unitstrud最好用vise夹住，否则unitstrud在即将被钻透时会卡住钻头并因此而旋转，极易受伤。
2.钻完后顺便把铁渣渣打扫干净，最能显示您journeyman的水平。
3.只有量的准，才能钻的准---细铅笔的效果比shapee的效果好得多。

如果工具和材料凑手，钻头锋利的话，应该用不了5分钟。另外，顺便说一句，测量两相同直径孔中心点距离的办法很简单，只要量两孔外缘的同一侧的距离即可，这样就不用麻麻烦烦的还有夹住个钻头来画线了。

不知这样回答老赖给几分？

Foreman;做几个支架, 今天Cutting machine , chop saw都坏了,你要想办法, 注意下料时边要割垂直,不然没法焊(question 9)
Jack; no problem.
foreman;全部用锣钉锢定支架在钢板上(question 3,10).
Jack; of course,
Foreman;从墙上走到地面这块要注意, 这地面表层是钢扳,而且钢板表面有花汶不平(question 1,7,8),使得下钻时孔不在中心, 知道做吗?
Jack; absolutely no problem.
Foreman:下完料后叫homestay焊, 这小子,一干活就找不到人.
　这活你啥时干完?
Jack; three days.
Foreman; 你不是来疗养吧? 我们是contract company不是union company.　给你一天时间,明天干不完,就别来了.

I am not sure what the defination of "qualify" is in this senario, however, due to the reason that Jake is the tray master , i guess he is trying to test if i know how to choose the right drill bit for concrete anchors. is that right, Jack?
First of all, the holes have to be exact in diameter and sometimes even an exact depth with the anchor in order for the anchor to work properly.  For best results with masonry anchors, it is important to "blow out" any excess dust from the drilled holes. I wish this answers Jake's first question.
As a quick test of your hammer drill bit, find a soft ground surface even it is icy and bore a quick hole then drop an anchor in it should be able to tell the "quality" of your drill bit.
Jake might have his own secret that works better than mine-----We are all ears here, Buddy!

I think Jake is refering to thickness of the girder here which is 10mm. How many holes you can usually drill with a new one quarter drill bit before it becomes dull ? I don't know---it depends on the quality of the bit,  material of the bit and the way how you are going to use the bit. if just not carbon steel bit, maybe just a few; if it is stainless stell bit, you may bore a lots of holes; if it is cobolt bit, you may want to---well just take it home. Also, using proper cutting oil, set the proper spining speed and apply proper presure on drill......it all matters.

if the drill bit is dull, you may through it away and get a new one if you are not paying it. I have seen an Russian guy who simply resharped it by using a grinder. I tried to resharp it with a grinder too and it works perfect as well, however if you don't know the secret you may just demage it. Drill bit sharpener is being used in some company as well and usually are available in tool crib. you may also take the drill bit to your forman and tell him that you could not get the job done because the bit is dull, but you may end up heading toward the gate then :)

Drilling 10 one quarter holes on the beam which is 10 mm length in an hour is a big job for most people if they don't know the trick----I usually could get this done with in 20 minutes  with one hand in my pocket(did you see the new B?), but this is defenitely my trade secret :)

Too late today and I wish Jack is happy so far. will explain the last part of this question later---maybe should start another topic for this question.

办法: 找一个叫赖疯子的中国电工，用最客气的口吻，说：“亲爱的赖，would you cut 50 pieces read rod for me, the length is 5 inches +_one quarter in 20 minutes? I am in a huge rush and I appreciate very very very much if you may help.”
等他把这50根搞定，一定要连拥抱带亲吻地感谢他老人家。完了走之前，撂下一句话：“还有40分钟才吃饭，麻烦您把剩下的100根也切了吧，注意要保持thread的完整性，螺母进不去的都要挑出来---您真是一个好人！！！”

但见老赖热泪盈眶。

As I said, I wouldn't be able to get this done unless I may get Jack put his hands on this task. If Jake was my supervisor, I would have somebody as witness and report this to safty department as harassment.

书归正传：first, put a 2 by 4 or something similliar on right hand side of chop saw 5 inches away from cutting disk, make sure chop saw is not moving(may need couple screws to secure it), put ready rods vertically into the clamp and cut 2 or 3 at a time depends on the diameter of the rod, should be able to get 50 pieces done within 10 minutes;
then, use and only use hand file to clean the burrs off on both side to ready rots, so that it has a useable thread. this may cost a little while though, say 15 minutes.

use zip-cut cut on both side, should be able to get this done in 5 minutes if set up time in not included and body position is not too awkward.

这种活以前干过几次，不多。感觉只要把眼的位置找准，钻头用的合适，深度稍微超出anchor bolt一点，用胶带在钻头上做记号以确保各眼一样深且足够深， 15分钟应该可以搞定。
最重要的是：打眼务必保证垂直，否则ready rod 扭进去后指向各个方向，就很麻烦。
解决办法： ready rod都较软，用锤打一打就把方向调整过来了。注意一定放一个nut在ready rod 的头上，以免把丝打坏。

Seems Jake wants me to exercise my hacksaw skill.
1. use square to draw a streight line on both side of unistrud where you want to cut, make sure your lines are linded up and perpendicular to the strud.
2.start from open side of strud and saw a small cut on both side about 5mm deep.
3.keep saw blade in the cut of both side and start to cut on the side close to your body along the line your draw until it reaches the end.
4. flip it over and do same thing on the other side untill you get the whole job done.

If your foreman asked you add a support at B point see figure F1.
1. Drill a hole on the brackets , when drill bit go through , just shake the drill bit a little bit that will make the hole a little bit bigger. (在支架上钻一孔, 钻完后,钻头沿孔再钻一次,以保正锣丝可放入.)
2. Finish the second hole. (钻好第二孔)
3. Put the bracket on the B position. Make sure the bracket should touches the tray. See figure F2.( 将支架放在图F1 B位.注意支架和轻轻接触.见图F2)
4. Tighten the bracket on the beam by C-clamp. (用C-clamp将支架紧固在beam上)
5. Drill a hole at A point, then fasten the bracket by a bolt. (在A点沿支架上原来钻好的往里在beam上打一孔, 钻完后,钻头沿孔再钻一次,以保正锣丝可放入. 用锣丝和锣母固紧bracket)
6. Make a another hole at B and fasten the bracket by a bolt. (在B点打第二孔并固紧.)
7. Fasten the tray on the bracket.
This example not only shows you how to use one drill bit to efficiently finish job, but also teaches you how to make “zero tolerance”.(无缝连结)

看了你的帖子，早已佩服的五体投地了，不知道这些招都是从哪学来的。在小工厂干，从来就没有人跟你说怎么干活，你看着什么工具合适，就用什么，也不知道工具和工件的英文名称。就凭这一点，让去工地都不敢了。现在正在学英文专业名词呢，免得以后到了team中跟个傻瓜似的。能解释一下下列英文名称都是什么东西吗？desh后面是想加的中文解释，目前空缺中。

1. uni-strut— 一般长10英尺, 或20英尺外形见图1(工地不给拍照,只好手画),主要用来做支架.
2. ready rod—一般长10英尺的螺纹竿,直径有1/4,3/8, 1/2 英寸.
1.2.你最好星期六(翻黄叶查找)到金属材料店看.
3. zip-cut— 因该叫zip-cut blade 装在hand held grinder 用来割金属, 你最好星期六到HOME DEPOT store 去看.
