CALGARY - A fire has halted operations at one of Suncor Energy's two oilsands upgraders north of Fort McMurray, the company said Tuesday.

No one was hurt in the incident which happened after a fire broke out around midnight at its upgrader #1, Suncor said.# j [) f1 y$ f' ~* u

The energy giant said the 125,000-barrel-per-day unit was shut down after the fire, and it is currently assessing damage.

; A0 a( E9 o2 D) b! nSuncor has been plagued by a series fires at its oilsands operations in the past five months, suffering three fires since October in the upgraders which convert bitumen into synthetic crude oil.) h( s# H2 z2 ^' v* \; P
: Q/ v) p3 r" u2 l2 JAccording to Reuters, Suncor could not specify how much crude the unit was producing before the incident.
