Responsibilities 6 C3 t* K* n. n. x# A% d
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. & z. `! y7 y# Q2 [ @4 ~
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
$ q" ` Y H3 h: l0 IAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
3 Z- C3 o' v0 H6 iOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
$ u9 Z6 B% B' J' Y4 G( l* _# [5 ~Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 1 P: Y5 j+ l+ }. I( Y
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 6 N& p$ t% T+ H; F
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
; j7 h" {! s0 f2 \" ~Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. + g" B( ?5 f: d9 Q. f5 H$ E
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
0 }. S5 Y( f. U4 E4 sAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
2 L p& u3 i+ n6 L* g6 C5 mIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
7 h( e( C, T. |( n2 rEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. % Z+ [" a/ \2 ?2 Q; ^: e; H
Qualifications
5 S- W6 |7 r- V }A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 8 a6 \- a3 B- ?8 k& P
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. . A4 n' H+ V+ m" t- V
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. % P6 ?* b) l$ X8 l1 d+ |
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. & X3 L* }& @1 B, {8 @ Y' @/ W8 @
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
