Responsibilities $ L9 A% T) D1 t% S* K' o( w
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
+ x" Y% q4 a0 Z. j% pPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
* p: _# c) q- a" ]$ oAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
& D% `& m$ W7 f4 b) j% KOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
8 C+ Z, b5 }" [! ~Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
$ e. F8 @+ o& T( M2 t1 ] x+ ]Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 7 s3 f( d0 H, {1 s
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
2 t" @1 f$ k# _/ EEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
- m/ O: ~8 T/ x. U: kDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. - e0 T! l" N6 ]0 @' l& L
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
. l6 f) c+ C% J3 C$ CIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. / Z) c8 |) {" v) G
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 0 L ^! g$ j: i
Qualifications 5 j5 q$ b/ m5 n# O; W/ [% m6 |3 r. }+ Q
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
; ~0 X% e9 \$ {5 o( J" }! S4 V" m! bPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
; b/ q6 f; |* k' i" DPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
* V3 Q3 c; k. F& M3 ]1 d* v/ i* T) @Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. # {0 ]+ ~6 J; w; r7 | e1 N7 g
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 7 |( P' t3 u% o! L
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. ) H' _/ }0 I, g
