Responsibilities
9 U' C5 U, y+ n3 \In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
9 G" d4 R6 O) F. kPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
: {# l+ `/ N& }) u Q0 ZAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
- g5 j: h# U* b: t, |; ~: `Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 5 }! T/ m0 [+ a/ F2 G2 e
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
$ w, _/ Z/ |2 PMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
( P* q6 j! j9 Y( wExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
( \& r/ E. D' h% _# BEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
: {9 `5 G. t% X7 {Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
5 p% A4 W/ k# KAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
9 k3 C, y c/ N! t5 i0 s8 IIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. + U0 z+ Y2 e" S9 O1 d1 }# u1 Y
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 1 P4 D+ B. o; ?: i; c* U' E9 _8 Q
Qualifications
6 S+ w" @4 Q4 SA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
3 q. N- n/ N/ d( `- k# XPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
) B/ B4 K) M/ q; W9 H: `) H& J/ YPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
6 J) [5 I* U: O# s. pPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 0 r' D1 q0 J1 O/ J) Y+ \; }! V9 r: x
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. . m6 S1 ~. e2 i! F7 p* i3 k
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. * Z! h# L+ a: g( y7 B
