Responsibilities
6 B$ H# u6 Y. KIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
5 P: `0 M. O, S' C2 ?/ XPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. + V" r" d1 V5 x, b1 G
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. `( k2 {0 _3 _# ~! P
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 4 G5 h Z; ?& Y- C* p: ?2 h0 @, p
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
% x4 `! j# ]3 QMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 4 `; O6 O8 j( L( k7 ^2 d
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. $ y& X0 X! d% f
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
- ?/ l5 \; S' R6 }/ l8 W/ J$ @Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

0 Z/ c+ @) s4 n C" X! C7 k9 ~% }7 NIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. l2 Y( L/ E3 E3 U& Q
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

5 R) c/ P# V' W M% A1 sA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
! Z5 M& }9 M) p4 \& x2 [ t. sPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 5 y% d+ T' F. T( U- W: J
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 3 H: {6 l0 R8 e
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
3 H6 f( L6 M- ^/ |4 o% U+ nIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
2 }' G& c( V/ K. I1 yProficiency in a second language is considered an asset. , ~0 S5 U) E$ P* B
