, A5 `1 `, v0 _- kIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. 2 U+ y2 O3 [7 ~- D7 d0 W
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. 6 Y! K& H' _, p8 J/ q# J0 i7 K K B
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. ! R, p! x; a# ], K# s' [
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. ; G! ]8 p9 v7 i; b4 n
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 0 C, O/ l U3 F2 x
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. * N4 H2 r# U, Q/ f& i6 i
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 8 d& [! D N1 X3 N
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. / Y( W8 e' E( j; U l
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. + P+ t# I( P p
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
* V. _' j& j0 y: S- c# j kIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. ' r2 L( |% T+ ?# a6 o7 c
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 0 C% O( y- k c% H; y( o$ M
Qualifications , d' M: X; p" ~
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 1 T0 ?: ~$ A$ d+ C
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 1 U: C% B* D" p4 v# Y0 L) b9 H8 B! Q
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 5 t. {; c! E4 R9 J/ L; S2 S; _2 Z
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 3 p' t" T9 t, c, P3 F, I
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. * ?1 K6 ]$ R) S$ u3 ]0 }3 Y
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. K! g8 A2 G% v b
