SPECIAL EVENTS/VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR 1 q% g) V) C9 e# o
JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and in collaboration with CLSA Special . f- G, a& a" j; m. ~; L5 ?* t
Events and Volunteer Committees, this position will be responsible to:

' S7 H8 b  a/ O4 i8 }5 [# SDuties:  Special Events  
) R6 s6 S  [" n- ]- Y, APlan, implement and evaluate Special Events: / V- i# `% y+ [" g2 C# D! k$ g
·  Select and develop themes in collaboration with the Committee 6 p1 n  w% f. Z. M; B5 ?. P" K
·  Oversee event logistics: book entertainment, catering services and venue; assist
2 S- I0 b$ n) L" j4 L! r" y; e' wwith decorating; ensure tickets and invitations are available; assist with the 2 |1 O/ z+ u9 y" }3 ]9 D
advertising of events; recruit, place and supervise volunteers for events; ensure 2 S; C, z, x5 I# r3 `
set-up and clean-up; monitor event budget and complete evaluation of events.   
) g3 R) W  @. j" O% ]3 z: M·  Attend and manage Special Events  
& d' u  O% V5 \' x: O( H·  Attend and take minutes for Special Events Committee # e! @: Q! p' g+ n

) t' }5 L% r' A9 f- X/ ~9 p( E! wDuties: Volunteer Coordination $ M* R9 }# t, c* y
Assist in developing and implementing a volunteer program:
# ]5 y5 G: v: z·  Develop job descriptions for volunteer positions 9 ~9 y4 v3 @$ Y; P
·  Recruit, interview, screen and place prospective volunteers
$ e: N- O% f* S8 Z  S, V0 e·  Provide initial orientation and training for new volunteers
* K; {* o  W, _# \* w·  Ensure provision of recognition and evaluation of volunteers  7 ?& M% l( P+ t0 }  `0 ^8 o- L
·  Complete program administration, statistics and records
/ ?, H$ ~/ k# s2 ~. e# O
0 Y. f5 S$ f7 p1 \0 J6 }Qualifications:
8 p# s( V1 b* B7 H$ {·  Completion of 12th2 J- h9 B7 _% z/ @
Grade and a minimum of a Diploma in Recreation . Y! w- Q% u$ R: l9 q) R
Administration, Volunteer Management or Special Event Planning or equivalent.
7 _2 A3 |8 N" A·  At least one year of experience in Recreation Administration and some direct
, H2 P7 j" Q: n8 D, u9 j5 _7 @experience in conducting recreational, cultural or other related events
; j( }0 _6 \# G8 C·  Experience working with and managing volunteers
2 c  K/ U3 e9 g8 M. q·  Specialized skills and training in working with seniors  
/ I) N% ]' E. J5 R+ }! R6 e·  Ability to instruct, organize and supervise group activities and special events
( e, X+ P% `8 E; @4 v" E8 @. ]# c·  Current Standard First Aid, CPR & AED training
; Y+ i) P5 P8 h+ o, s1 |·  Security Clearance 2 p. w# a9 |# e: n* r7 T1 F0 }* z
( F3 g9 I+ A5 c2 r
Hours:   Flexible – some evening and weekend work
- K3 p9 N* L1 C( ~  E 4 s% G) @. d* {* j
Wages:  $16 - $20/hour depending on qualifications
1 ~9 r8 l- }& G, _+ U5 r" i     3-month probation to start   q2 _  C0 i5 @* d. [; S! V
