Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students

7 {( ?/ {3 F8 e" w# BActivity Planning and Daily Activity; G0 u6 w4 @# a
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
, g1 E% n( ~, S Y. }• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
* `) V5 C3 {7 I8 w• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 2 Z1 v' \2 X9 d$ v4 e/ _+ ^: h
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.0 M! n5 Z6 C: q1 w" j8 y# b0 z
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.: U0 Z. c1 _- g' _6 j
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.& k+ f. x. [" K5 U

The successful candidate will have:' ~8 x) A- Q) _
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
# F, x) g# e) a5 X• Experience with children d+ E" Z }5 p- i8 Y2 s
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
2 C" c" p5 i) v) w0 b• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.7 g2 b+ ]" s5 D6 B
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.! N- I5 |8 \/ @8 j
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
) M0 K6 A% D' h+ p: ~% t• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
8 S# T- W& C% m. ^• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
