Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

Key Responsibilities Include
0 }) Z5 L; E4 Y3 N/ B$ {Activity Planning and Daily Activity4 O( w/ m) [9 {2 O7 }- ^$ r
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.: h$ f7 p- q4 w0 A3 o. g
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
6 w% ~0 Y( ~/ i" B5 a6 b h• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
, c3 L9 N, Y# t4 E• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.3 E( }( J# [3 I6 d u
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
3 A0 J/ ?: w" w6 k5 v, {• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.# {2 [0 J" `- d) Y5 c! n0 t

The successful candidate will have:
$ ?1 W6 O- o2 g% }3 D0 a1 R" z7 z• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting* ^) V, Q& H- R. `5 ~: ~
• Experience with children
9 {) k; s+ @2 h) O• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
4 g. X. b0 Q0 w$ @+ h& N• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.7 ~! c6 u) m! e% \
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented." W" @ k9 t/ t" t
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources

* a7 Z7 A; `2 M: j4 Q• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check

In addition to an excellent work environment, The Africa Centre & Big Brothers Big Sisters offer an hourly salary of $15-hour .
