A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.- k# E+ |- f8 `* U) }5 W0 q+ `7 G
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
9 H" i5 O2 V- r9 W, g* q* Gknowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.* i$ V( q$ u4 ?* C
The program includes the following elements:* d0 f* N* G, D F' a. i/ J: a& X
• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
: B+ K3 e/ l+ o' r. B• Standard Child Care First Aid' B V% @/ U2 v$ u. D' L
• WHMIS2 S; S& W8 I' t! H3 p
• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care. q, o. X- U/ }4 N( K7 X
• Components to improve communication skills
/ m7 H) D/ u! s! h( |1 ~• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search! ]3 {+ a9 ]: w0 [* ]. h; T+ u
• Practicum Placements

0 m6 r! w* @/ y0 @, A" e/ L' z• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen3 L: d* `+ Q& h [3 G' x+ ?
of Canada! F+ ?; P1 N+ B& b6 Y0 H+ C# o
• have a Social Insurance Number/ K" b" Q, F9 X7 i
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
1 m# h- ?% f( A3 @) [• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
6 D; R1 ?- \. Y( J9 o5 x! T1 |4 F• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
7 \, b, ]2 F t7 i+ O# R) i7 F3 b1 G6 mthe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:& r" W- Z. t+ v" P4 z5 b! s
• be unemployed or underemployed.# N+ M; r! b/ }. F
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course
