$ G( a& I# b. J W) V/ A0 a6 O7 @FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. - Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU) and two of its contractors are headed to court next month after being charged with dumping partially-treated sewage from two work camps into a northern Alberta river.

The contractors charged are the Compass Group of Canada, which ran the camps, and Rodney McCabe, whose now-defunct company operated the two wastewater plants.7 D; \0 A4 b! e: s/ ?1 g4 e

The charges laid last year under Alberta's Environmental Protection Act include failing to properly treat wastewater and providing false or misleading information to the environment ministry.) k0 j0 x- {5 w3 ^" O

Environment Minister Rob Renner says the charges were laid after a routine audit found problems with the sewage discharge into the Athabasca River.

9 q( ]+ G! C% h5 p7 n$ ~McCabe and Compass are refusing comment, but a Suncor spokesman says the sewage likely had very little impact on the water quality in the river.
