"There is no difference in meaning but "help sb to do" is more British usage and "help sb do" is more American. : m/ a4 ]+ ~0 z0 K$ y6 p6 ]! uSource(s): 5 X2 S- m0 a+ \, u: z# JI'm an ESL teacher and have lived both in the US a number of years and also in Scotland."
忽然想起初中时候的英语老师曾经教过的一个口诀,就是关于动词不定式可以省掉to的动词,叫作:一感(feel)、二听(指hear,listen 要加 to)、三让(make,let,have)、四看(see,notice,watch,observe);半帮help。 5 l) M7 ]/ F) X' B- @+ u! ]: F L% f
为啥叫半帮help呢,就是说在动词不定式中,help somebody to do something,这个to是可以省略的,所以算半个。但是,要强调的是,如果用于被动语态,to不可省。 1 A; M. Z" e' V* N0 d( a7 ~) \9 K5 S
不知道筒子们对这个“半帮help”的说法有印象吗?——我不记得是哪位初中英语老师教的我了,因为我分别在苏州和济南读过初中,呵呵。
