Changes to health care premiums January 1, 2009

There are no changes in the way Albertans register for publicly-funded health care. However, as announced in the 2008 budget, health premiums have been eliminated as of January 1, 2009.

9 A: k6 T' \& ?% H9 _0 \ 1. All Albertans are responsible to pay premiums unless they qualify for premium assistance, government-sponsored income support programs, or are senior citizens.2 |* |# z5 e' Y& s* s! P
2. Employers and benefit administrators who register and pay premiums on behalf of their employees will continue to do so./ T$ `, g) R- X. i! ?. |
3. Alberta Health and Wellness will continue to pursue collections from those who fail to pay premiums.
