Payment and collection of health care premiums owed prior to January 1, 2009 will continue under these guidelines:

1. All Albertans are responsible to pay premiums unless they qualify for premium assistance, government-sponsored income support programs, or are senior citizens.
7 X9 N; Q, e- R7 o3 F8 w 2. Employers and benefit administrators who register and pay premiums on behalf of their employees will continue to do so.5 N& `5 S5 R$ S; M
3. Alberta Health and Wellness will continue to pursue collections from those who fail to pay premiums.
8 ?5 r8 T$ m/ A9 z" ~ 4. Contributors to Alberta Blue Cross or other supplementary insurance plans that provide prescription drug, dental, and other extended coverage, will still pay those premiums, as they have not been eliminated.
