但是,这个“不折腾”怎么翻呢?据说难坏了各路翻译精英们。0 u/ w8 p( H |2 X4 _$ w( w3 |

在网上收集了几种译法:供各位参考,希望起到抛砖引玉的作用:
& J3 Q+ P0 p% d( s& U) `3 ~8 A. k) e$ a5 T5 l/ q
1、don"t flip flop (别翻来倒去,朝三暮四)

3、don"t sway back and forth (别反复)

4、no dithering(不踌躇)- j. n; o# T. R1 W( x" S9 _" u7 |8 F1 E

& |0 U0 A7 h5 E" ]% R$ Z5 h+ k+ Q4 V% g+ Y+ L
上述译法,觉得都不够准确,不够精彩,没有把“折腾”的全部意思表达出来。这里推荐一个译法,感觉比较恰当:
, p7 E2 k: y; A
/ T* ^+ p3 \& j" N- P# v avoid self-inflicted setbacks (不折腾)
# c& A+ m( S: t1 U X6 P1 f: `5 w9 e: t/ N
原因是:* n4 Y" g% d# V
# |4 {( \1 ]5 b- ~- Y% G “self-inflicted” has the connotation of creating theunnecessarypain for one self.
5 [& b. V v/ ?; C* H) c/ f0 B' R) M( t. X
折腾 in Hu"s speech has a strong connotation that such kindofsetback is self-seeking instead of being due to theinterferencefrom outside.
& p. w+ { N/ q9 |$ [' @ [% J$ S5 I4 v1 @3 I+ D: d
“Setback” is a much better word than “trouble”, whichanunseasoned translator would like to use in the firstinstance.“Setback” especially refers to the obstacle ordifficultyencountered in achieving a strategic goal. |
