% s! s$ t9 O; P7 {8 R& `9 RDescription: The Neighbourhood & Community Development Branch is seeking a Social Worker for the Assessment & Short-term Counseling Team (A.S.T.C.). The A.S.T.C. Team is made up of 14 Social Workers & is centrally located at Circle SQ. The team responds to a variety of issues including relationships, worries over children/teens, domestic violence, financial stresses & housing concerns.

Key Tasks - The successful candidate will report to the Director of Targeted Community Services and will: respond to citizen calls at a centralized phone in service; provide in person assessment/counseling to help clients identify strengths, family supports, and available community resources; take a holistic, creative approach to arriving at solutions.

Job Requirements: a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. A Master's Degree in Social Work is preferred; a minimum of (3) years professional experience in the provision of social services involving individual/group programs, family counseling & organizational and/or community work.+ N0 I" Z% V; c8 u* x" O
! z j: @# e- Y- T0 G8 @" Q& \In addition: RSW designation; demonstrated skills/creativity in the above functions, including strong skills in teamwork, assessment & short term counseling, community/organizational networking, group work/project initiation; sound knowledge of family violence; develop & sustain positive professional relationships with clients, colleagues, management/community agencies; maintain accurate records and professional case notes.!
