In the first incident, a 30-year-old man is dead in what police are calling a "gang motivated" shooting near Whitemud Drive, the Edmonton Police Service said in a press release.

1 man dead in stabbing
* E% f6 d& C. W8 {Meanwhile, one male is dead and another is in police custody after an altercation between two groups in an alley early Sunday morning, according to an EPS press release." H3 ]; e" `& G- z
0 T! Q+ h; D$ X0 r& b1 l) H
At approximately 2:45 a.m. MT, officers spotted a vehicle being driven the wrong way on Gateway Boulevard near Whyte Avenue.5 a, t6 V( s, D( Z
9 h% C" ]$ y! gUpon stopping the car, the officers learned that one of the passengers, a 24-year-old male, was seriously injured.
+ U5 {+ j* O2 r) G# X1 C6 l; D y" B6 `# G9 g' S% b
He was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.% P% Y0 A2 F: W9 c5 U$ w, T
' J) J0 n7 a0 \" A, M0 ]A police investigation revealed that the three male occupants of the vehicle had been involved in a physical altercation with two other males and a female near an alley south of Whyte Avenue, between Gateway Boulevard and Calgary Trail, which resulted in one male being stabbed.; J/ {0 s3 c6 ]6 N
