EDMONTON - Prices for new homes in Edmonton fell 5.3 per cent in July compared to the same month last year, marking the biggest year-over-year drop in 23 years, said Statistics Canada today.5 }' ?, g k, Z( D( D& C# |) w' g" |; j" F

Edmonton's cooling market showed the biggest year-over-year drop of any Canadian city.

. V7 }2 E6 {& s; f; H6 F- PThe fastest pace was in Regina, which saw a year-over-year price increase of 29.6 per cent, down from its record rise of 34 per cent in April.

* @( D- N3 m4 W' BAs the market continued to cool in Western Canada, prices for new homes rose nationally at a slower pace in July for the sixth consecutive month.: H! k% {+ l+ Y7 I

Prices were up 2.7 per cent in July from a year earlier, down from June's annual pace of 3.5 per cent. On a monthly basis, prices edged up 0.1 per cent between June and July.. e) e7 W; }; T
