Duties
' C! b* C! f% r, F, r* ]0 \! A
    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
0 V; \( l* Q- V0 N% y    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
2 _9 K/ s+ g- q% p$ ~0 P    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
. S$ i* \8 F8 g5 \, S2 P, r1 [: ?# {% S    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
& Q) g' E# }% S! e) O7 O% m    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
  Q/ l0 X- |( h    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
+ e) ~2 E2 `% {$ l$ A; O/ m    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
# g0 L5 ~' V6 V1 ?6 ]    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
0 E0 I  d0 s: I* _9 w0 o. g    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

8 A; M; w, X& hQualifications
; g& a0 j2 s5 M9 u3 X% y
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
) L5 k  ]" t# C2 O7 {    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
" @" q  s2 C  G! c7 ~# w    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
    * Fundraising skills an asset
, s4 U2 y/ S1 P5 j    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
9 `! U' h# u, p& p    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
; Q2 y; D2 H3 S% B0 `    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
