Duties
# u2 a, C' {4 C* J
    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
, X# u: C2 S& \) R; d& F1 y! w$ u    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
# a2 Z5 ]5 h) _    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
" |, P) I6 i3 S0 j    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
; B9 l3 f' X- w" n    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
4 P% f4 a( D; e2 K    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
3 D6 Q  X) Z3 y) k    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
3 A, r( F* Y8 J, T. K! ^" D" b5 x    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
! `+ B* |+ _3 [7 ?0 C/ \5 M+ e    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
- o- G3 l; C2 j7 I; P2 h    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
  {, \9 \4 `# z( t/ J    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
+ {  ~: x) _2 j$ V    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications
5 l( Y0 ?6 k& E! _5 T! @6 m% _
4 }' U7 {$ O- C+ [1 f  r    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community

    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
0 X, J* O# S# Z+ O- y    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
( p( N( \7 u- v7 ~9 N! q( s+ d    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
