Duties

* Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
, X# u: C2 S& \) R; d& F1 y! w$ u * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group1 M8 n" ]" o0 |: O! E
* Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
# a2 Z5 ]5 h) _ * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations; K) a9 d4 [$ P% s: h. S+ s; s3 }
* Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
" |, P) I6 i3 S0 j * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
; B9 l3 f' X- w" n * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
4 P% f4 a( D; e2 K * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
3 D6 Q X) Z3 y) k * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
3 A, r( F* Y8 J, T. K! ^" D" b5 x * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports

Qualifications
5 l( Y0 ?6 k& E! _5 T! @6 m% _
4 }' U7 {$ O- C+ [1 f r * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline1 ~4 z' {0 p& Q- d4 H a
* Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth* s9 @1 p- G5 l9 o* [" V
* Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies$ P4 G& M" i% i/ H4 M; l. t
* Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs, d& f2 n1 t' T) S& ^
* Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community

* Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
