Duties

0 j4 t) m1 W# b0 {2 P    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
, X0 k" P& P1 m, @    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
$ V. y# g0 P; a: c7 B8 r    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
8 Y9 S( [/ D5 G3 K5 @1 M( `* v3 [    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
* }& W6 h9 x: ?/ m' Q    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
+ r) W9 f! I- r, B    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
( j) ^" o9 ^5 R4 ]; @% G6 e    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

  C7 K7 {0 e6 {
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
4 `( H# u8 E: K' [6 s    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
    * Fundraising skills an asset
* Q* d. E4 Z( A    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
