' d3 E, W9 ?9 u& z, W    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
0 p" s' c& p/ o2 R    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group, a: v  B2 m  r* b* p1 I+ X
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
. a. W, L2 J3 L; O, w7 h. G% O    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations& [7 v. [  C/ J+ {2 Y  t# y' {$ K
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
. Y6 ^$ r  y& P; O    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses0 n( W# z! {: t" J- p- p
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth7 Z" ?4 p9 ~  _- q
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
7 l/ R! ~8 Q9 O0 }  d    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
- v+ l% m* U3 N7 m/ J    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports3 P% R: m# [3 O) N4 }
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs% P& n0 z, n( u( h* m
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly4 B  D1 O( J/ B4 k
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
# R/ E4 E! x# {! E  S# Z    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline3 }* z' k# f: s+ o' ?6 v5 O: G
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth1 v+ }* J- S2 F/ H' o
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies# K/ m% j) |% _" D6 R( Q
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
8 E7 o% U1 D9 W    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community- y2 y) |/ H1 A1 y. Z
    * Fundraising skills an asset
5 H1 V; i" }2 ^6 C" F1 z    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills- |* ?; Z, K6 P  T0 m, t  {
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills) H3 c# a* v# |/ K/ T: F
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
