* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
1 S1 ^* O1 n& y- }2 ]% j: }' d * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography! M* ~, y5 `; T7 M$ p' }
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
, c; u, y1 r6 t7 l. f * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
' a6 a# o2 y; @. t4 e * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry1 J5 j2 e8 l9 p* ]/ w* V+ u7 i
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
: a5 U- H3 w; y$ p, H * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab3 y9 r3 W0 N7 o9 q% ^
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
; m: z- L! {, \! [2 |! \6 |8 Y * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

l% T. T1 } d! S* a' a* _( S) p * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
" w+ w* p9 U3 g3 K% I * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)# w" \6 C3 a. u+ _; J
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
9 K; Q. f; P# P7 F- Z | * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
! Q1 ?: g. W; ] * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
