! Y$ [. P) D K! ?. r * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis/ K3 g2 M* c' N o6 o- ]
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
. t/ w! l7 s- a5 k2 n6 f7 \6 l * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
0 d2 E# e1 W3 N- X6 c! R * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client: a6 T/ p, w& G6 g
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry! r$ o# P0 |! F( J* w% o
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals' ~/ n D6 Q) ?' V7 O0 m
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab6 _6 R) p+ p- n$ v P
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices* X' E& Y1 e6 C* w4 }
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)( d, O- P8 I5 k- f5 f1 \9 _
1 l4 B: f# n+ n! x- F% F' b# wQualifications
: N T* y+ t9 i* w
/ y" c6 u' n% } M. T& O" _ * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
8 Z( d4 P# P$ A0 O3 Q * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
8 |) K* M' V* s$ l% F7 t* @ * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel- s: D/ F" S; y) J- j/ K3 v
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures/ Y5 c3 _8 ^4 @
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
