* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography$ c+ Z. s6 |* P2 [5 [
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
F" L7 z' ]/ E- _( V: S" G# J, D * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
# K7 J/ S& @6 b9 @; v' i$ c; {- l+ B * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry5 [0 G; w* ~1 u N
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals' j4 }& B& N! f V/ @
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab( k; @6 E, [1 y+ o7 ^7 D
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices4 [/ d' Y: j% V2 `# B
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS). w3 j9 U: e- B/ D! b1 Z5 [

/ ]( b m/ \3 L2 O * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
( {5 W" U: K/ c2 o * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)5 c, C4 Z! z0 m# g
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel- X; y3 B( Y# i% @
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures" ~, h2 X) I0 T+ F; v: l( g; u, u
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment4 Z( Z: B1 Z5 }- c `& E
