* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis8 a6 C+ B! O5 A& \% @
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
: b5 C" `9 S, c2 l' z * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
! ?" U1 y3 j4 r$ H: w9 X * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
, u N- Z8 F6 E8 A- V * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
. T8 I8 `7 o4 d. \) P- @% D4 w, i * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals

* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
" r+ U/ J% K2 i. t6 r4 e& V( f * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
" Y" t+ X+ j& L( `, T ~% ?1 i. f& o/ X; a
* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
5 J7 j$ B0 H* { * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
4 n+ ~( \' {0 D, A7 b1 `- D * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
5 s0 L# ?* \) v& u) x8 T8 N * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
2 K6 X& X4 R0 { * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
