Duties
7 x+ T7 q) H- d: d8 x
) x; s" O/ I" X5 V8 x2 W * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis, |' n7 K8 R3 K- S
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography* X; ~, f! x C
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
$ v& }) G9 e4 z, q: N% Z8 s3 K$ i * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
- k+ J6 J: N' y, s% d+ ^6 ^ * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
7 ~4 \7 T& a0 Q+ U v. C) R, q+ h * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals! Y4 o+ G) g9 s! ]% o7 \
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab v4 F9 I, u, R; Q" X1 Q
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices9 q0 D1 J" T& B6 z# e
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications6 @5 _( O( t' r: {

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
& M! @, Z9 x: r/ G * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)( o2 i; M& A* Y/ ^" h" D
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel; T7 K4 B- c/ s7 h9 Q6 E- ?: _3 P
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
! T# ?: _& J& J& V. Y9 G * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment( H1 N! H& C+ @+ ]* V
