* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis2 R& B- b- l O3 \
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
" D6 t3 t% ~" U' ^ * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques+ T! W* I( L7 [
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
1 I$ c: J; k% C; `& R s! ^7 Q8 J3 Y * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry: g& K9 o7 s, Y7 W6 X! ^& o; m
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals/ Q9 @- _9 X+ f+ H
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab1 _, A( \* a0 ?$ _4 r/ r
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices: h& F9 }- L' w$ ^! Z4 |% e
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
( V9 b! i) A* ^. d
$ Y" c) X' M" H7 X' l * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
" K! a g% g; x6 p5 K- _ * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)& j' l% ~. _/ F- Z; J* s5 Q
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel y0 s& d% d0 C" Q
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures! r! ~- h+ J1 c. [3 @
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
