* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis, T; T$ j3 S+ W! q9 _ Q
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography% T# Z! \) W" P) \. Y0 U; g
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques7 y. f/ t* o8 y8 v$ r1 h! r
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client4 g+ X* R7 r! k) |' Y1 q
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
) h) o3 V# R* j! R! N t: a * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
( x) l; s% w& y- |! o, T * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
1 c1 T' x; ]) | * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
( J( D7 S: Q7 g0 b+ e * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)* a# p( }) D- N3 L

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred+ B% g$ \) A! _$ T
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
9 {5 L9 M3 A5 r/ S * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel: {" M& R( ~2 F; n
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
& f5 Q% Z& h/ R0 W+ w( g0 Y * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
