* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
/ W; K- o4 h9 T' w0 u# M * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
; X" R) R0 X# ^/ R * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques0 G7 D; y$ Y+ w- i: i9 S
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client# Z! k7 i5 ~8 S2 P- E: y; H$ I' n
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
7 G( C( o2 ^( P6 K* f* ^# F * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals: W. Z/ t x: D! z6 g
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab

* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)5 o+ Q% _8 u1 s' \# h" v

Qualifications
! C- l3 v8 I" \7 F3 X5 P
4 |4 g2 O/ o! f& [, Y$ W U * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred" D0 ]8 t9 j" X$ ]4 F
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab) o% ~" B( |' G
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel% D: Z, [. g5 `- C
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures6 h. N- R4 d' U8 Z- R6 o# k4 ]
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment( ]8 F% t( Q& p# h" v' Z: H
