0 w- J9 G* s* f6 i" b6 Q3 AAs part of the City of Edmonton's Newcomer Internship Program, we are seeking a highly motivated internationally trained Accountant to work as an intern for a period of 11 months. The objective of this program is to provide foreign trained professionals with meaningful Canadian work experience related to their qualifications, skills and experience.

: W$ R/ W9 Z) u6 R- X' i T9 \Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Accountants Payable and Receivable, you will perform professional/senior technical accounting work involving control over processing and maintenance of complex and diverse accounts receivable and billing financial systems and records. This may include:) A: n7 n* C" b& V+ ~5 ~
• Assisting in reviewing the overall accounting system and inter-related financial processes within a diversified accounting environment1 s/ I Q+ u5 N" v& v# m" w
• Developing performance reports, including monthly billing and collection activity, customer profile, and specialized reports including year end financial statements
- r9 V8 m) P% i- m% z5 _; ?• Providing technical and professional advice and assistance to business are officials in matters of financial policies and procedures under the shared services delivery module
* z" D3 ^. |- _' G7 v• Performing complex trend analysis, transactional analysis and reconciliation's8 B0 u* g; C7 a O1 N5 a8 Y
• Applying a high level of analysis in providing value added AP/AR services and recommendations to customers # M1 E3 k0 C" A) {% K
Job Requirements:
" B# M7 h7 _8 c8 ]4 V% q' L• University degree obtained outside of Canada (bachelor or applied) in an accounting-related discipline. D2 K+ t- z2 e: n" U. \
• Working towards a Canadian accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA) would be considered an asset
& G' z* Y, t- L( x& u+ A• Three (3) years of progressively responsible international accounting experience* j' ~4 A* R/ i' {( Z2 J9 U+ c
• A basic working knowledge of Corporate Financial Systems" j' m1 l e0 p
• Demonstrated competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and spreadsheets9 J5 L+ x$ W: r3 J. d5 n
• Demonstrated ability to deal courteously with the public and make decisions within established policies: u2 J4 `+ W! d* {# U1 }! a
• A basic knowledge of accounting, administrative procedures and regulations including GAAP and GST
