Responsibilities include:6 q' y6 J) `- ]$ G& Q
5 J" G- p6 w! _" I5 v+ w1 _1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)" f6 F1 l7 M' d: V0 o
• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department" Q0 D. u0 w$ C @6 q
• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals
8 K& B8 s0 G+ @* S# B9 V" [• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored f3 \* K8 n3 M( O
• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals. I6 Y5 u& ~7 A
• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.

2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)) z4 h, {8 v+ `, g7 \
• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.

• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s 5 K! J' U$ c {$ W! O: f* r
9 d0 o! h4 N- {- I; k5 xCandidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required. % U! Y4 I1 v0 Q) J7 U$ w3 e9 x
. K- i; g3 j9 B& w6 qThis is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.
