Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

Job Description:
7 f2 ?% f- P% U% y1 {+ s& Q: O- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community4 O+ P9 x) H# O S `" J
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
; }: v0 L. f2 i0 g- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services, a2 }+ I4 W. [4 v* U8 r$ p" E
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
( r1 t6 P7 ]# j m; K- coordinate good will activities
$ g) U- @' P) T" a1 C. a4 V- j- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members" v" ~% I! C4 l3 }# q: g2 p5 R/ p
- submit information for community news
8 A Z0 w& F/ d. Y& N# {- prepare and send AGM information to members
9 b7 g) w1 p% ^- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.7 C+ Y7 X: ]! \: Z) b( q4 W
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities P/ }4 S1 l: ^* W' h# J2 k% G
- update ASSIST website) L! w$ k6 @( ^7 _
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
: ?0 [4 W# L, D# W1 F- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services) I+ T- @6 n$ y d3 [- ^; \
- assist in writing proposal for ISP8 B1 ~+ m# e6 q+ m
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- hold regular meetings with ISP team. X9 O& H) d4 ?/ k7 P3 j S
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time( l% E( |' s _" p' ]1 \6 m
- update membership database
! ] I4 B1 s1 ?- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

1 S3 s+ A- Z" F8 K- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education d; E/ k& }+ k Y) V3 b
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
) X: {0 w/ U1 F; o# K L- experience in community work and immigrant services
. z4 L. d; M% T$ g6 X: @# G) d- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars9 O/ M, f* ~- L P6 H
- leadership skills
