Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community+ F' w) }& X! X: X3 x& u& N
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
C0 y2 ^2 Z* Z. K- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services W' _$ j3 q6 P) e1 D
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
) e4 [" s; p' M. b( c- coordinate good will activities3 y- I2 @/ j$ Q5 u& E
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

( a7 v9 J9 ]# }6 L( ]- prepare and send AGM information to members6 a4 g2 H! Q: L$ y
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required). m( u2 ]! ?5 F! n; w7 T' K

Qualifications
. l7 Q4 [1 w' m6 X" d$ e. {2 \- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
7 J l0 N- e3 a7 l, c8 ^- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
p: a. m$ G; j k4 b p: U1 ~2 a- experience in community work and immigrant services1 g/ j$ |6 Q" r; ~# ^& d2 l/ B
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars! ?; p6 t0 s9 K! g G4 Q+ m
- leadership skills
