Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
4 N% r- ^3 i5 [/ s* t1 \- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
8 D" J7 e, c( n2 j6 ^- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
& Q, y, p$ J9 b T8 b- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies; w" ]7 `3 |1 T" o8 Y7 W
- coordinate good will activities6 X' O1 ], u3 |1 e m% z4 g5 D$ b
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members8 l& m9 W" L1 q5 M
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.; B7 H& I+ ?2 I
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities9 m4 Z( Q2 ]2 k% l- d) Z- t
- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- explore new ideas for ISP 3 V, E0 T( p$ w1 M5 F
- hold regular meetings with ISP team0 P" ], s2 B' X) ^5 } P- O
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time, U! @ B' H2 n K. L4 z

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required): O4 n$ ~4 O+ `

Qualifications
) ?# p Z5 d8 v4 D3 y7 q/ z6 [- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education " O9 c/ V4 n( s3 r1 V. f
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills

- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
