Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 7 z( M- A' K r) q. p/ q

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community& C% R8 I3 A9 [1 `% x
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
% K8 I- _7 I; w; T8 i- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services: C6 {& z, P/ J" e* B8 r p
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members0 z# L" ?. U0 U# K
- submit information for community news

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website* o6 u3 {# f1 \5 [; {) v) Z
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre! Q" A0 c/ N! ^! o4 ]' ~& D
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services# t2 p. I4 b6 l) F8 k: z. A0 X0 G
- assist in writing proposal for ISP% W* L5 Y/ M- V
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP4 v( F T% U5 s1 c2 {) _1 H
- explore new ideas for ISP
+ D$ r- k7 N+ a* B5 s- hold regular meetings with ISP team
; O/ E3 \: f9 e! p- B- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time1 p; p% \+ p5 j; a1 ?

Qualifications
2 g, K, W) C, d6 k; `- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education : w% M; o8 P! w9 B, P
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
' l) l6 [) u, g$ G0 f- experience in community work and immigrant services
. J+ x2 V- l3 H% O) P- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars/ H% Q) o4 O& ~* c1 S2 }
- leadership skills4 {! X0 }: ^# c7 t/ p% @
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
