Job Description

Board

•        is accountable to the Board for the achievement of the agency’s vision mission and goals8 `' v8 y$ {5 V! ]6 }( n" t
•        is fiscally accountable to the Board with all projects and administration of the agency within an approved budget by the Board

•        is accountable for effective administration of agency & W( J3 m7 r8 `
•        is accountable to meet community expectations and funders’ requirements * k1 i" C# ~# _* w
•        develop/review and administer operational policies and procedures

. R- g  T0 C8 A& M& O& W8 J•        develop, implement and manage operational and programming budgets

9 D, G4 q* Q; x: z•        responsible for recruitment, selection, training and performance appraisal and termination of staff

# p  O5 R" i5 I" a•        provide day to day leadership to support staff in programming functions
% e- S7 H- N% K) R•        monitor progress of agency service providers and coordinators# ?" m/ f& N) u( x, g/ k
•        provide opportunities for staff development and growth% x1 l  ~4 Z" ]% Y7 M" G
•        meet with staff on regular basis# H, {% P6 t4 [& u0 `  _7 w8 X
•        build and maintain collegial and strong working relationships with staff

8 W# k6 R. Y* ePrograms/Services
1 |3 b5 n% ]5 y6 K, r* }•        overall management of all agency projects/programs and services
6 t1 l2 r; j4 J( E. D! v. l•        design, develop and monitor client-centred programs and activities# `8 R8 p: `, G$ U# D7 m! D
•        prepare, complete and submit all program proposals including budgets and reports to the funders and key stakeholders
+ [7 z8 W7 @6 b* w8 @; [/ {  y•        set program priorities and directions
/ i- o8 P5 G4 p, h0 E•        identify community and user needs and trends3 A7 {2 v5 m  }' x
•        implement and monitor programs and community activities to meet identified needs and trends
6 p+ L( F" e) X; Q7 d% e•        conduct program evaluation/survey/research2 ]0 n$ G- T- r- K8 r  H4 P" q
•        maintenance of appropriate reporting: g% H$ V& q/ \/ @* L' h
•        delivery of program or activity to participants as required
2 D' E, ^9 U. M) ^$ E•        build on knowledge of community resources in program development
1 s3 k3 s9 U, s6 a- ?3 R•        ensure programs serve to enhance the coping capacities and well-being of people by removing inhumane systems or barriers and to empower people to work on positive changes in themselves and in others* }5 r- F3 b$ l+ a. \5 c) D& o

External Relations5 x# M: D1 R1 {7 j9 J
•        act as community liaison and cultural broker between the immigrant community and other communities
* C5 P, y/ y4 j# ~•        build, maintain strong relationships with all levels of governments, businesses, community groups, public  & funders7 C" E( b! v  ?! x0 u% b
•        communicate the value of the organization to the public4 g2 U9 d. k3 |* `' u
•        identify community needs and trends
+ e& C1 ]/ R3 w) R•        coordinate and monitor significant programs through liaison/partnership with other community groups
+ {* n4 ?8 w1 i* m9 u0 e. }0 R" c0 g•        advocate, educate, promote cross-cultural respect & understanding of immigrants, visible minorities & other at risk or multi-risks groups( n' ~# u: l/ x; v# o& s) {4 c" @
•        work with community and social agencies/groups to raise awareness of systemic issues affecting people from a broad socio-economic spectrum to social policy makers and to lobby for social changes in society, legislation and systems.9 u4 Z3 _- j4 G
•        Identify funding opportunities and resources that enhance the agency programs/services and staff& ~4 G# Q. W, S1 [

( P4 v: p7 q" P' ~! t) F5 ~Qualifications
, z) O1 N4 R! ~! l-        University degree in a related field; . V% `5 C' N; r  d) s
-        Knowledge of leadership and management principles as relate to nonprofit / voluntary organization;
4 O9 q: J2 ]4 u. y1 X-        Knowledge of human resources management, financial management, project management, fund development and organizational management; " c8 P$ E& b& @* H
-        2 or more years of progressive management experience in a voluntary sector organization 6 @( Q5 {& j+ }9 K$ e( p/ f

, H0 V/ K) p' A& ~Salary/ u: c- z$ L8 ]" A4 E# j1 q+ ~
-        $50,000 - $55,000 + benefits
" i3 u4 W" L( U% M8 A; w( H: V, E, @" I, o7 o0 t1 G$ C/ L
