financial and operational success of the Horowitz Theatre as well as

This strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:# e, v( r- ^' z- R
· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz
% u9 d1 Z. D" g' H* S# vTheatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to
5 j- ?8 p8 r. X8 p) atake advantage of other internal and external advertising
g, P# l5 U7 k$ I& \$ [. zopportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional

· To promote upcoming events in the Horowitz Theatre through the
# f( P0 e# D- d3 g1 U+ h( _! I% xuse of the Horowitz Theatre Home Page and the SU Events Calendar.

3. Staff and Supervisory Roles and Responsibilities1 z& g# ^6 o& R+ K
3 `: k' s' H0 i# ?; Qa. To ensure, at all times, that the venues are adequately and cost-
" D R9 W" o9 {& \effectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the
2 ^# ^! z) Y, Z- f( U; k& C9 r' jvenues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and ' n; I8 o- q4 Q u
contribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of $ ^ Y' r$ l- T, }. M6 l0 K6 Q& G) F
the renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited $ I: A: [8 H( y y7 Y

· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues & j% M/ B! B) ^
and Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining,
9 {$ `# k: j3 Yevaluating and terminating, as necessary.
( J7 R( X! E( T: X' \5 o( P# P; @ To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at / z7 Z4 B1 u0 y$ w+ k q
all times, this includes the development and implementation of such
2 Q D: i8 |7 ]8 uschedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and 0 x9 k3 x# h0 _* {: L* K
cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it
e2 I( r. m9 x0 w* q) Pis in operation or needs to be in operation.
" q7 @" o$ h% x· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure 3 h% @" ?3 y `9 A( n
that an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to 0 `. _3 N3 Z' n$ N
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all
9 J p+ b# B' D* Xrenters needs are met.
# r, N. \5 m, D3 U! U# ^" x· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills
' |8 k8 a% q( Cand attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of 2 Z- b9 H" z# g% f3 \7 f1 P. v; a
the roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and

is kep up-to-date at all times.

excellent customer service to all renters.

the staff of the venues.

the appropriate setup/tear down of each venue.

4. Overall Financial Performance

a. To ensure, at all times, that the Financial and Administrative

appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and contribute in a

includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:- I2 h& C, z( r4 b7 N* t1 x
To provide input and expertise in the formulation of appropriate
+ H5 `1 O/ ?# o' l/ }% l' i8 coperating budgets covering the venues to the SU´s Manager of
. l: z) V. J& Q% UProgramming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets 2 f, E0 v2 N- C/ Z5 p. l2 G5 _5 I/ X1 Q
Manager of Programming and Venues, and Manager of Finance &
- ?: \/ P+ i! L, {5 bAdministration prior to their submission for final approval.2 d* w0 M' x- O6 P/ j3 a+ N
· To manage the venues in a manner which adequately and effectively
/ R1 S. E \. N* G" qreflects the budgets approved for the venues and/or which reflects
3 w! B: L4 M, p% R4 mthe best interests of the venues and the Students´ Union.

· To discuss those financial statements and other reports, together

2 a! J: g/ F$ f) Q0 C* ycosting systems to be used in connection with the determination and
( V; {3 r/ |6 a2 t6 ~- T. e: _setting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for
- M; U6 [7 ^$ Q6 |3 C1 M0 Wevents held in the Horowitz Theatre.. S) G( h; e$ R; V$ M
· To develop accurate documentation to be used in connection with $ u9 Y+ q$ i# C/ ^" Z+ P
the billing clients, and to forward such documentation in a timely

· To recognize, address and handle all matters relating to financial ; I8 S' S5 z0 O# O. \0 E

a. To ensure, at all times, that the systems and processes used in * j J N+ a: t% o5 a7 M
renting the venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and 8 G5 W& ?/ _9 V$ i$ y& u
needs, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the 2 [- b4 r/ `# w/ T( x4 x& ?8 s' d
venues. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:) Z; {' S: b p) `- m4 q5 D- E$ O& Y

· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as ) \6 I$ \- x' z6 ^, t) G# R
may be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this
/ P0 }% [, u9 iis to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes
i, X/ H% @% f# |9 V2 M! F! [1 E5 Uin the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation, ! ^/ h% o4 L2 t2 O, g7 F0 z& }$ o
pricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing, + A3 z! k( F$ Y Q. D
together with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary 2 B2 G) u0 B! W# V* W u# F% i8 S
to ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and 4 b) F5 P2 V/ A

· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures $ [3 F' t8 l: _/ Z, F, u" f% L
as may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost-

! i0 _* G" t9 V7 N; B+ \· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to
4 _1 X' `* _& c, Kdates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.
2 s6 `0 I9 Y( O# `· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and 5 p$ z+ q! {( \! v. ?3 H
that such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.7 P8 X/ U! h- q$ Y6 D5 j/ H
· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their
" d/ P8 e! }: t# y. tparticular event in the venues.' K% |2 ?% B" y
· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and : a% X! A- n$ Q/ h- P+ F9 P+ m
supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the 2 x! \. B9 a; @
roles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.
5 }, V9 @3 d9 c8 Q0 p5 Y ^· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular
1 b' g8 o1 V) D( Y L2 ~* p) irental with consultation with the Technical Director.
' B7 V2 f" Y) N/ K! \· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the
1 s% F/ B* a( k$ XSU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately + @1 F% Q8 T) k/ x
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in
- ~ o6 Z$ D* t6 Rfollow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.! a# a/ [7 U' g4 m
To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately,
' j% y8 q5 O- ^0 D. i& m$ ]effectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that + o' A7 P3 B! z) M+ `) u" Z2 ]
the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision
1 ]+ D5 ?& a8 Omade for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of
0 s$ c4 S* g; zProgramming and Venues.
+ c. K; q! L, v' K· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of
( i. Q# P k# v" I% y! csignificant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of 4 ?6 l* \' ?, r6 l
marketing, administration, operations, and any such other matters as # R9 {5 X2 N: d- @! J+ F
may provide such challenges and/or problems.
& _2 @5 `) o; {· To attend such meetings as may be required to support the smooth
9 G ~+ i+ l' J g1 P. R' C+ @operation of the venues or the Students´ Union as a whole.

1) Minimum two years related post secondary education, or
