The duties of the Operations Manager - SU Venues are diverse and

% S" K( ^, i2 A- j4 T/ ^6 afinancial and operational success of the Horowitz Theatre as well as * x1 j6 [+ L% o% Y, s
the logistical organization and smooth rental of the additional
' ?. ^, F) i/ L, ?venues within the realm of the Students´ Union. In the light of that

Manager are as follows:

appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and contributes in a

2. Marketing and Promotion

a. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the venues that
6 V2 I; E6 j" b g. ofocuses upon advertising and promoting the venue to faculty,
+ `$ J% _6 z' t4 h# I+ nstudents, and internal and external clients on an on-going basis. ; S. m6 q+ A# |6 y1 M' a
This strategy will include implementing and/or delegating the following:1 {. q9 C& g1 F
· To develop and maintain promotional materials, the Horowitz
6 ^7 P, S! p/ W4 }8 _2 H7 pTheatre and SU Venues home page, newspaper and other advertising; to
" i7 {" Q, [7 O( I3 t7 `take advantage of other internal and external advertising % B: b' ~0 T" ^; c
opportunities; and to develop press releases and other promotional B. I; f9 M$ B
literature on an ongoing basis.
! \3 d# J/ g( p% {+ Q7 l# a· To coordinate tours of the venues for potential renters.

use of the Horowitz Theatre Home Page and the SU Events Calendar.

3 i9 p; n, v/ P* m# Deffectively staffed, and that the staff utilized by or within the 7 g( P/ g/ Z1 D2 \4 b
venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and W f" _8 o: J/ v& H% a/ u. \
contribute in a positive way to the smooth operation and success of ( b- T+ w3 z. Z4 g
the renter´s events. This includes, but is not necessarily limited & M! k) s% g! W$ ~
to, the following:( X9 m7 G" Z: v* t% f
· To be responsible, under the direction of the Manager of Venues
I/ Z3 O8 o8 y! B5 uand Programming, for all staff issues including hiring, disciplining, 8 o s! {! M# R: X( ^
evaluating and terminating, as necessary.
. Z1 G$ }! X! g To ensure that the Horowitz Theatre is adequately supervised at
8 K8 V$ t- a( n" c4 ball times, this includes the development and implementation of such / a& W; y0 d7 P+ }& P9 P* p0 J5 _
schedules and rosters as may be necessary to ensure the effective and : X0 U4 K% O1 q2 y) s" H
cost-effective supervision of the venues at all times during which it
3 o- N. U; D) Gis in operation or needs to be in operation.
' J+ [8 m9 s/ o# o$ h" ^. y· To work with the Technical Director, when necessary, to ensure
) z+ O5 M7 k8 Q8 I L% Wthat an adequate and appropriate level of part-time staff exists to : p4 K- _, r% \' U& J
facilitate the smooth operation of the venues and to ensure all ' T& Q) t( ]$ ?

· To work with the Technical Director to ensure that the skills
) Q& d7 \6 p# J, P, fand attitudes of all subordinate staff are appropriate in light of 6 ^" k5 V: f. f5 F: a
the roles they must perform. This includes providing adequate and \% e- v7 S8 ]/ ]3 _0 D. t& a
effective training (and re-training) in all applicable and 5 ]5 O2 s) a: {1 S* a- U5 }( F
appropriate areas, and ensuring that the Policy and Procedures manual

and direction of the Manager of Venues and Programming, concerning

· Working with the Manager of Facilities and Operations to ensure 7 _% x {# r- z9 g

· Working with the Manager of Programming and Venues to ensure

systems and processes utilized by or within the venues meet the ! w) F) X7 x* ?. J
appropriate standards, requirements and needs, and contribute in a

Programming and Venues and to discuss and refine those budgets

the best interests of the venues and the Students´ Union.4 @" g" M# u6 X2 h
· To function as the key player in the submission of financial and

· To discuss those financial statements and other reports, together

aimed at improving the financial and/or functional effectiveness of

setting of appropriate prices for rental and staffing rates for

manner to the Accounting Department.

Manager of Finance and Administration, and in a manner which

a. To ensure, at all times, that the systems and processes used in ) Y" k+ M8 T& u Z
renting the venues meet the appropriate standards, requirements and
8 t7 z2 }6 A# s" G* R' z7 r5 B( tneeds, and contribute to the smooth operation and success of the
9 j/ s) P" v; m0 wvenues. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:/ C$ S# k D+ q* r

· To recognize, develop and set in place such rental procedures as 8 F% A- r, {% [2 u# m0 S
may be necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the venues, this 9 I u; b8 c1 I5 l; B& a# v
is to include but not necessarily be limited to systems and processes 3 p6 |% l* p& Q5 W% g# E9 Z
in the areas of contracts, inventory management, contract evaluation,
8 I3 W; `5 }* x5 n& l! f% Lpricing, costing, equipment usage, rental/contract invoicing, # O& z% U6 R$ i8 R; x
together with such other systems and procedures as may be necessary ; A0 @' @ [9 x
to ensure the smooth, secure, efficient, cost-effective and
* F8 k4 R$ E+ R: b2 \) {; ^6 {functionally-effective operation of the Horowitz Theatre.
' M9 S& B% ^! b0 \9 ^2 O, p* i8 p· To recognize, develop and set in place such operational procedures
7 o# L" s# ?1 n* aas may be necessary to ensure the smooth, efficient and cost-
' a" n0 k5 J1 Teffective operation of the venues.7 O9 [- m. Y0 {6 |5 ?" E
· To negotiate rental lease agreements (contracts) relating to + U# H& w. c$ ^# m8 Y2 x
dates, rates, staff and miscellaneous charges.
0 {* @( X8 e: B% s2 a8 V5 z# ^+ s· To ensure that adequate inventory is available at all times and 5 ?% @) Y: M' t, q$ }
that such inventory is stored and issued in effective and secure ways.3 l: v# N, p* P& b. N
· To consult with renters as to facility issues in producing their 9 J9 ~4 ]+ W/ `6 U# r3 W: Q
particular event in the venues.
+ e- E2 E \/ L5 D" l& L- W* j· To provide the venues on-site staff with such documentation and
. F R+ T, H6 f8 g; t7 k' ?4 J3 \supporting information as it may need to effectively fulfill the
0 u8 o, b% h3 B& z$ lroles they are to perform to ensure the success of the renter´s event.
3 R' z. p# V5 N: Q1 G· To produce quotes in respect to staffing costs for a particular
8 p: p; I" W" o* S+ Y9 g9 Srental with consultation with the Technical Director./ L% _. K, ~0 E1 @" q
· To ensure that all queries raised with the venues whether from the
0 X" `1 o9 j" ~ ZSU or renters, are promptly and effectively handled and adequately ( `1 m/ f+ l; E7 [9 p% y
answered, and to ensure that such action as may be necessary in / q$ v V; `, P4 i/ J1 k+ D( @: g
follow-up to such queries is taken in a timely manner.* h( ? l5 Q% m: b9 r$ ~' g$ c
To ensure that the venues and its capabilities are adequately,
6 h J8 N* Z( M6 _; Ieffectively and cost-effectively advertised and promoted, and that
8 F! p, n, d- ?3 {the cost of such endeavors does not exceed the budgetary provision / W& K4 V" h& ~6 d6 s# k5 \
made for them unless prior approval is given by the Manager of
% K& j8 ?% b2 z$ b0 X+ A2 cProgramming and Venues.- v/ q" f. ~' p0 t, i" c7 D
· To act as an informed and knowledgeable resource in the case of - e' X$ @( W5 t, O
significant challenges and/or problems surrounding the tasks of
