Really want to save some gas money you may have to check the followings:
1. The thermostat settings. Set the temperature as low as you still feel ok. say 16 degree?

2 o3 z) f% Q" Y$ |# n5 ~; i  |3 F3. Check the on/off cycle of the furnace, and flame of the furnace to make sure the furnace burns efficiently . ( need a professional people to look after)
