Wow. In edmonton, if we're talking about academics, then it is definitely going to be in the following order

Strathcona is more known for being a "jock" school - in other words, very athletic. It was also more populated with caucasians... I don't know if that's changed in the last 4/5 years... maybe there are more asians there now? Don't know. ! h1 P* L' S; Y- ^( A
/ n {, M5 P$ `1 A n6 R, eAnyways, besides Strathcona being well known for sports, I have never really heard of it being well known for other attributes... Yes there is an AP program, but as far as I know, IB (as offered by Harry Ainlay) is still more renowned. Also... Harry Ainlay has a french immersion program. :), Q) w6 A/ H+ m# t1 e- X. S

Vic Comp used to be attractive for "artsy students", but now, the new Lillian Osbourne has taken its ranks for being an artsy school..., k9 }1 Y- p) }* Z' }5 C6 \* w
9 q* C! j9 [+ v$ y. pOtherwise, I still consider Old Scona and Harry Ainlay some of the better schools around in terms of academics :)

Like I said, I graduated from high school a few years ago, maybe rankings have changed. But when I was in high school, this is what the schools I previously named above were well-known for. Hope this helped! |
