Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.- l" J/ q J. U- c" N$ X D9 _1 E

8 z+ Z- F# d9 L6 C6 U• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
$ K- I+ T: e, M3 I: E, t• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
# |3 r$ T2 N3 Y f* @• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
0 Y+ ]9 e" `1 f: }6 n+ c( \• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather 1 e1 i8 `: @" a7 u+ X! f
and traffic conditions.

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations. 9 T; H$ e f" J8 ?, x; r

( o7 X& ?) x+ I7 q0 X$ f0 w• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).8 A* S) a' ?6 r; p1 H! d" n
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.( M" N% e! W" ?; G. |3 ]9 J ^
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
# w% N% ?3 G" B) D• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
4 B* v5 [! F1 {9 O/ cshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. , c& `7 K- {2 M/ ^3 p* z
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 1 H) B& A' h `" T# [/ [! y
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).( X& Z z: [+ B
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.6 K2 c/ s$ D z4 c" Q3 e( C# w" v& }
• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

HOURS OF WORK:4 H; C b- N9 N$ J) _$ V
Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 . ^! x. ?0 a) q( H( Y+ x K
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly. ]! \" A( m1 d3 \0 u: v
Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly
