7 d' J E3 `1 q' HEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis., v1 y4 f6 H( s; U8 |' S

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
: n9 d7 [; x% w+ z• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.4 `( ^3 W8 V" o6 t1 Q* f
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.- a( l4 y0 n& z
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

6 Z# m' m& S8 c. G1 A• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
# |/ m. \; T6 L0 y0 c• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
& G d }; H& m( n+ k, e7 d6 Ato be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger 2 h1 a% k; _. N' a

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.)., h4 A# I- L7 W8 s- K8 L
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.9 [& t% d; s& ^2 N7 B& p3 U* j R/ e. A
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.1 @9 q+ H) I6 P0 W4 J
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) % L! a' H8 m5 l. o# K
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. ' ~) E/ G. F* P* x. s/ i1 s2 ?
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill V1 f' r# G! L w
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

9 f: c$ o5 T3 e+ Y• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 & F# I+ [; u6 |$ b- E
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
