3 Q4 E+ t: j8 [Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes./ h- b$ \& m. C3 x) [8 ]
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
! e; ?( L9 o# H C+ X• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
7 N4 p7 [4 y( k* T- `• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations. $ A1 T- s5 M% |, s) j' w

8 I% u, y7 w, D$ i6 U1 A! I• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).6 z) ?9 E) ]& a; s
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
5 G, E* X* I; v8 N- C% z• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
. h Z9 E I% J, V: s3 R/ O8 I* `• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
% T! E2 y3 Y# u( r4 k7 Yshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
+ j& z$ X3 s! ? a- U6 V• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 4 {+ b: `8 j& P+ J0 {3 [: @; j: O
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).
% A# w9 B! Y7 E T/ A• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

HOURS OF WORK:
3 `+ n* o2 l% ^2 i& BVarious hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week , s7 ]! A! |% `: I. K
1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly4 K6 J' u, |3 r5 T2 V0 z" i
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
