& Q/ c; _' h5 i/ ~) {; k3 uEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

FUNCTIONS:
7 T) `# L1 W8 `1 z• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
$ R7 t5 {. h; i# ?• Collect proper fare, issue transfers., z% k9 a* h& j
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
5 b& m( x8 v/ p1 f/ l0 Y5 o) T1 @• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather + j. I: \$ T! J1 ?$ Z5 k9 L

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
9 S2 O8 Y/ a- a6 q" e8 _• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

' S) [+ I* n# x8 J1 b. |( i• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).6 l7 j) |! c: J/ ]: `) ]2 ]
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
3 u& v3 c# n( Y2 ~2 a& I5 x( l$ l• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.7 J. K0 ?* A ~* Q3 @2 C# H
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) + b! ~# U7 L8 l! p' c, O! f4 O
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

4 K- a& K! v; | v% }3 \2 A6 \video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).+ W2 V/ D& v& f8 I2 Q0 M' ^! U2 T
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.* @1 M& U- k# k* e( X
• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week
/ ]+ M) s) F& A, a3 J# z1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly) U( U& k, B) p! `9 H1 E
Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004

The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
